I have zero interest in pomp and ceremony in all its forms.

Especially when it costs over 150 million. We are in a economic "crisis"? You wouldnt know it looking at all the pomp.

I wonder when the last time is that they've had such a large turnout for an inauguration....not to mention the people watching on TV and the Web.

I'd guess Reagan. He was a bit of a rock star in his days. The old timers on VJ probably remember, I bet they listened to it on their antique radios.

Reagan was a GREAT President as far as I'm concerned. Didn't KNOW him either, but had the pleasure of working on a documentary about him called "The Great Communicator".

They're driving from the church back to the Whitehouse now. VIPs are arriving for the inauguration.

I heard that it was all raised through private donation. Even so it certainly is a scandalous amount of money to be blowing. With everything that was spent spent during the campaigns over the last year - two years, its got to be a least a half billion dollars that have been spent.

Beggars belief.
