I got this dog on friday from a friend at my dads work, and i have no clue what kind it is, or if its mixed with another breed. I know its a BAD picture, but hes 4 months old and wont sit long enough for me to take a decent one. I hope this one is good enough.

From that picture it looks kind of like a black lab, but it isn't too clear so I can't really tell. Could be a mix with a lab.

My dad was thinking deffinatly part Lab and maybe jack russell, i will try to get a better pic of it. if he will sit still long enough.

Ok this is the best i will get, hes hyper, and i had to get it quick while he was taking a break.

He looks a bit Labby to me...although, he looks like there's a mix in there as well.

He is very cute !

How much does he weigh now? That may give you some clue as to breed...Any spots on his tongue? Or bib on his collar? Also, check him in the sun...sometimes you can see faint shadows in there as well of markings...He looks like he's got a bit of a beak, which looks like some JRT in there.

I have a boy who is lab/staffy X- he is my "other son"...Love him to bits !!

Lotsa luck with him !

Dunno about the weight, not too much, my son is 22 pounds, and the dog is lighter than he is :) In the sun he has brown spots on him, nothing on his tongue, and he has a white dot around the collar area in the middle.Im also kinda "dog dumb", im a cat person, even tho this dog melted my heart and i couldnt say no, especially seeing how happy my daughter was when she saw it, anyway, what is a staffy X??

I agree that he's a lab; the white spot on the chest is also a lab thing although it's more common on chocolate labs than black. I don't see the brown markings unfortunately. He seems to be about lab size and there's nothing about him at all (other than the brown) that would make me think he's not a purebred. My parents have had 3 labs now, and he looks just like them in terms of build, facial structure, etc.

Have fun with your puppy!

I'm pretty sure it's a black lab (mix?).

[, what is a staffy X??

A Staffy is Stafforshire Terrier, a euphemism for the infamous Pit Bull. The "X" is a short cut for "mix". My boy is very headstrong, but has been my source of joy and laughter since the day I brought him home...loves kids, loves burritos, and has his own chair like Fraiser's dad. When Mr. Bruce gets here, we are getting a new sofa, but the chair stays !!!

Glad you gave him a loving home, and are having fun with him. He looks like a sweet boy. I too, was a cat person until I adopted my first dog, a Jack Russell, and she is just a sweety as well.

Sadly though, she is 20 years old, and I unfortunately am bringing her Wednesday to the doc's, because she her time has come due to a form of canine Alzheimer's. She has had a good run though, and has been with me for 13 of her 20 years...I hate to say goodbye, but she is no longer enjoying life. She becomes cofused and it is terrifying for her... :(

Sorry to bring a downer to your thread...but, back to good stuff...

I looked at his tail, and there's def. Lab in that boy ! What's his name?

not that it matters what breed it is, a mutt is just as happy to have a home

Have fun with your new baby. If its hyper, find yourself a dog park nearby and take him there to play. Whenever we have been able to take George to a dog park (nearest ones to us are all over an hour and a half away :( ) she comes home and sleeps and sleeps and sleeps. A tuckered out pup is a happy pup, and happy person too ;)

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

Looks like a lab/terrier mix - and a very cute puppy! Enjoy.
