Hello Everyone,

I must say that after everything that I have read about the visa/immigration process, that I am getting very

very discouraged! I-130 to Embassy interview average time 309 days!!! I really dont want to be away from my

new wife for 309 days. When I first started researching the whole visa process, I thought it was only going to take

6 months, boy was I wrong. So, if I wanted to live in the philippines and work there for awhile, while this process

unfolds, what would I have to do? I know my wife can petition me a visa, and I believe it is a much quicker process.

But what about working there? Anybody have an ideas? About me, I have a BA in Business Management, and over

400 hours of training as a massage therapist. I have worked in the retail and the food industry. Any advice would be

greatly appreciated.

You probably want to do some research on working in the Philippines. You might look at some of the expats groups in Yahoo, there are several. I belong to the CDO, Cebu and living in paradise groups. These fellows can be very helpful and informative. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Hang in there buddy......you are not alone.

Think of of our boys overseas fighting, they all miss their family too.

It'll all be worth it in the end.

Keep in mind your income has to be about the US poverty level to get your wife to America.

You work in the RP and you get RP wages. You like making 6 dollars a day? No one has any reason to pay you any more than the average Filipino. Massage therapists are everywhere in the RP and make very little cash. A massage in Boracay costs me 8 dollars and it is lower in Manila and even lower outside of Manila.

You can start a business there, but you best not do that on a whim and you are not likely to make an above poverty level salary very quickly.

309 days isn't all that bad really considering afterwards, you will be together for a lifetime. The separation is made easier with use of modern technology so buy her a computer and pay for DSL in her home and you'll be set.

My friend had two, live-in maids that cost him a whopping 1500 pesos a month each. There isn't a lot of high paying jobs there, heck, I think the president only makes 50k a year (above the table anyway)

I have spent hours resaerching this option. Not much available. I hope that you can find anything. We were hoping for six months also. It took sixteen months till we had visa in hand. Do not want to discourage you, just be prepared....

I am doing the K-3 Process, and I still think it will be almost a year.

Never be discouraged when talking about being with your wife.

We all know that this is a long and tedious process that someone would never wanted to go through over again, but come to read November 2008 CR1 filers transfered to CSC on Jan 09 we got transferred to CSC that which we all firmly believe that we are all getting our approvals very soon. A proof for our claim is this December 08 transfers to CSC from VSC most of them are getting approved in a month or so from the original date of transfer.

We can never tell how long or short will be the process, to those who grasped the luck of short process, they are all very lucky. But some has to go through a lot with USCIS. its just up to whoever which one you will be. But all requires perpetual patience.

Good luck to your upcoming process.

Read my signature and see the line that states I lost two months in the process due to being in the Philippines when the letter came in the mail here in USA. So it can be a long or short process! But if you dont try you have nothing to gain. Believe me the Philippines has nothing much to offer you as far as a job. I have been there 10 times and have yet seen an American working with exception of those who own businesses. Take care
