FBI namecheck is something we all go through at the AOS stage. They check your name against any known terrorists or criminals, etc, to make sure they're not letting in anyone who will cause harm to the US or its people. Some breeze right through and others take longer if there is a "hit". I think mine took about 5 months.

5 months! oh my! Did u have to wait 5 months for getting ur Green Card?!

That's nothing. Some people have waited 2 or more years. Mine took 7 months from start to finish.

It took me 10 months.

AOS Approved on 10-17-08 (details in profile)

Removal of Conditions on 07-19-10

In this tedious process, we tend to forget that this is all worth it.

I love my hubby beyond anything in this world.

It took me 9 months!

There are 2 things that the IO told me about not getting approved on the spot (My husband is nosy and asked).

1. Your name has not cleared FBI name check

2. It was a newer IO that needed to get an ok from a supervisor

Don't worry the letter will come, you could also check your 485 status online, if by the chance yours works you will be able to know if and when you are approved.

Cheers....

UPDATING...

Today I got something in the mail for my husband saying that the I-130 had been approved and.. this is the funny part:

"Because the petition was postmark on or before April 30, 2001, the beneficiary is elegible to adjust status. When the beneficiary becomes eligible to adjust status based on the priority day of this petition ( July 27, 2008) he or she may submit a copy of this notice along with form I-485 to their local citizenship (...) office."

That was odd.... I didn;t have anythign done on or before April 30 .... ... is that just a saying?.... Do I have to send ANOTHER I-485?.... no way... I guess that I only have to wait huh?... SO they do their sending thing and informe later since I already send the hole package at the beggining of the process??? mmmmmmm

Congrats!

Somebody please tell me why after talking with a really really nice Officer, he tell us that he will aproved my I-130 and that after giving all my information to his supervisor, they will be contacting me about the 485 in 4 or 8 weeks with a letter in the mail....

That is normal and happend to us as well. The officer said for him we are approved but his supervisor has to look at our case.

And one week later we were approved and got our gc 10 days after approval.

ROC - approved 08/2011
