Hello everyone.

Maybe you will think this question is dumb, but my fiance and I have been thinking about this a lot.

Relations between Venezuela Government and USA Government are not so good right now, we thought the fact that Obama was elected and Venezuela was opened to change their view about USA Government was kind of a relief after last year when The ambassador of the USA Embassy was kicked out of Venezuela, but just Yesterday My fiance read this comment from Obama about the Venezuelan Government and we guess things are not gonna get better. So my question really is, what if the Venezuelan Government decides to Shut down the USA Embassy in Venezuela. what would happen with all those visas applications? in case something like this ever happen do you think he could apply from other embassy such as in Colombia or Ecuador?

I know this may sound dumb but we really worry about this. so please take this question seriously.

Local consulates would deal with those issues, as for example happens with Iran etc.

Hi

I don't think it's a dumb question, Actually I worry about it every single day. I really hope they won't close the American Embassy any time soon, but ever since Chavez expelled the US ambassador, I freaked out and I did my own search on how much it would affect us, so if I'm not mistaken the only consulate/embassy of the United States of America in Venezuela is located in Caracas, if they ever close it, all relations would be shut down along with the embassy, Someone told me the only way we could apply for an American visa could be in Colombia, the thing is that I'm not sure if you would need a Colombian Passport or you can just use your Venezuelan passport, well in this case the one who should figure that out is your fiance, I'm not 100% sure about that though, but that's all I know. Anyway Let's just pray they don't do that... I don't even want to imagine myself fenced in this country without my love.
