From past experience with USCIS I have seen that the only time you can get the time of day from actual immigration officers is when your application is outside their official processing times. Of course they play all kinds of tricks to keep you from being outside their official processing times - by not updating their processing times regularly and even when they update - by quoting processing times as of several months ago. That way the only people who are outside the official processing times are the handful of unlucky ones whose cases have fallen completely through the cracks. All others are left with no other option but to play the waiting, hoping and praying game.

Good luck !

Food for thought.......when you call you never never speak with and Officer or anybody else that is from USCIS......you get a "contract worker" that is just trying to make a dollar bill to live. They have "canned responses" to give you and that is it. Everything is a mess at this organization........Its like "Hollywood"............and all the actors.

Sweetie, I hate to break it to you, but when I called and actually got someone AT VSC they still read me the Feb. 26th line. I don't think any of them will give you any more detailed information. Supposedly they have a different line for congressmen. I'm told that the congressman's office can obtain more detailed information than we can. Then again, a week has passed and I never heard anything back from the congressman's office either. I have not followed up either. I've washed my hands of the whole thing!

if you outside of the processing time you can request to talk to the officer. but not all representatives will transfer you. so if they refuse to transfer you to the officer, hang up and call right back and ask again for the officer and then eventually you will get one.

if you use the prompt that says you want to change your address you will get a live person. that is what I do and it works everytime.

It is easy to get a live person but that person is usually a customer service representative who simply reads out the information you can find without their help. Apparently these people have been trained to give out pat responses and to avoid transferring you to an immigration officer at all costs.

The only people who actually know what is going on with your case are the immigration officers but they are kept from taking customer calls - maybe for a good reason. I would much rather have them working on the cases instead of taking calls. What USCIS could do is give their customer service representatives a little more visibility into where each application is, but that may only generate more questions from customers ...

I have NOA2 and the website still says pending on our case. When I call speak to a live rep, she reads what the website says..Its not updated. The automated guy also tells you, this is the most recent information regarding your case, before he offers to transfer you to a live rep. So yea, their info is generic and you can see the same information on their website.. hope that helps..
