Current processing times?

Hi all, I'm new here and am looking for a bit of help.

I'm Canadian, my fiancé is a US citizen. We're not sure whether it would be quickest to file a K-1 and then get married in the US or to get married in Canada and file a K-3.

What are the differences in processing times for a K-1 vs. a K-3 at the moment?

Which route would allow me to work in the US fastest?

Thanks!

Capt Ewok keeps a running list of dates being approved. There's alot of data and charts if you look in the lighter blue menu bar and click Immigration Timelines. It is based on data taken from VJ member timelines, but will give you an indication of what is happening. Also look under K1 and K3 Historical. You'll see how it changes if you look at the graphs. A year ago VSC was way ahead of CSC. Not true anymore.

Depending on which service center you would have to go through and what visa you are going for, the processing times will differ. Take a look at this site below. It will help you get an idea about the processing times depending on the service center you would be going through.

As far as I know, K1 visas tend to process quicker than K3 visas, but that may not be true depending on the circumstances.

We met in October 2007 and our immigration journey started in July 2008 when we filed for the I-129F Fiance Visa petition.

Thanks, that's very helpful. Looks like we'll be filing at the Vermont Service Centre.

One more question, as I've read conflicting information - am I able to work on a K1 visa? Some sites say that I am, as long as I get an EAD. Others say I can only apply for the EAD once we're married and have adjusted my status to K3.
