Hi Everyone,

I have my AOS interview on February 11 and I received correspondence from my lawyer advising that there is an extra fee for her to attend our interview. We don't mind paying the fee but I was just wondering if it is necessary for her to attend? What documents have people provided to prove their marriage. My husband and I have joint bank accounts, both our names are on our auto insurance, we are both the beneficiaries on our life policies. We live in an apartment attached to my husbands parents house so we don't have a lease agreement. What else would prove our relationship? We each own our own vehicle and they are in our own names as we thought it would be better for me credit wise to have my own car in my own name! I don't have a job yet as I haven't been able to find one with the horrible economy we are facing. I am just worried that we don't have enough evidence to prove our relationship. This really sucks!

Thanks

Joint bank accounts and having a joint life insurance policy are the most important things they want to see so I believe you will meet with their satisfaction :) They might also want to see wedding photos, photos back when you were dating..dinner receipts maybe stuff like.. I think you will be absolutely fine IMO.

Thank you! Now I have another question ... I already have AP and we have flights booked to go back home the day after my interview. Will my AP still be effective after my interview? Should I bring my travel itinerary?

It is not necessary for attorney to attend the interview but keep in mind, this is very important day of your life, so decide for yourself, is it worth it to pay attorney or not? My attorney was present and basically just helped with locating peperwork in our briefcase during the interview,so we did not have to digg in. Interview is about you and I think you have enough paperwork to prove your relationship. Take photos and make sure you know names of everyone in the pictures.

Wishing you all the best :)

no no no no.... U don't need a lawyer.... The place of the interview is so small anyway! And most important, there will not be any question for ur attorney.. it's only about u both. And don't worry! It will be a piece of cake ;). Just have all ur papaer in order and remember where u can locate them and THAT WILL BE A PLUS!

About the Advanced Parole...though. It worries me that u already have tickets for traveling!...U do know that u r supposed to take all the Goverment papers ever issued right?. That means that during the Interview they will take any I-94 that u have AND OF COURSE they will ask you for both pages of ur Advanced Parole. I had my Interview the past January 15 in Balto. And that is what happened to me.

Oh MY! It's quite late to be asking that question. If your AOS is approved at the interview and you show them your itinerary, you can probably get a stamp in your passport to suffice until the green card arrives. The AP is no longer valid after the interview date, approval or not. If you are not approved on the interview date, you will not want to be leaving the USA until you are and have the stamp or green card.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

As I recall, you turn in the AP document at the interview.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.
