Fiance's SS number??

My fiance worked for less than a year while studying abroad at my university (in USA). He said he had a SS number, but that he doesn't have the information about it anymore. I put "unknown" for that blank in the form...did I screw up?? Will we get an RFE/denial? Or will they just fix it themselves? Or does he not even keep that number once he leaves the US? Thanks

If you don't know, you don't know but he'll keep the same SSN for life.

OK. Does that mean its something they can easily look up and we won't really get delayed for?

It's no big deal. We had the same sort of situation except the card got lost in the mail and we couldnt get another one before he left. Just put unknown and had no delay in processing. When we went to the SSA, they were able to look up his info and give us the # that day and resent the card. No biggie.
