K3 to CR1 flip unsuccessful

I received a response from Mumbai Consulate. Apparently, they cancelled the K3 interview and kept the CR1 for the CR1 date. The flip was completely unsuccessful. The lesson learned: DO NOT E-MAIL THEM ASKING THEM FOR A FLIP. If your K3 and CR1 happens to be at the Consulate and K3 interview is scheduled before the CR1, simply show up for K3 interview and the chances of you getting CR1 are much higher.

This is not the first time I got smacked for being nice...anyways, two weeks is no biggie. :)

Our timelines are almost identical, except for the NVC part. :)

Let that be a lesson about hiring a lawyer.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

I hope I haven't screwed up but I did exactly what you're telling people not to do. Waithatter even suggested I should wait until the papers arrived at the consulate, but today I couldn't help it. I e-mailed them (i haven't read this thread before). But I still have hopes that things are going to work out fine for me because the papers will arrive there tomorrow or friday.

I didn't know you had this problem in the end of your journey. At least now it's over for you! :) Last year was a long year for most of us!

Guys this might sound naive to you all as you're all at the completion of your vj but I sent all my i130 stuff to uscis and got noa1 in June, annnd I've sent just the i129f form along with the i130 package.

I'm hoping they send it back to me telling me I can't send it there.... But if they send it back approved do I have to do all the k3 stuff or do I ignore the k3 stuff and continue on with cr1????

I keep asking this question but I'm really not clear on what the heck to do!!!

Maybe I need a dummy guide haha!!!

Hi,

I just wanted to let anyone know who is interested that it was really easy to flip our interview in Frankfurt. My husband's K-3 interview is scheduled for tomorrow and his CR-1 package arrived in Frankfurt yesterday. After reading this thread, we were going back and forth trying to decide if he should just show up and hope for the best or call and ask. This morning, THEY called HIM. He said the woman he spoke with was very friendly and just said that she was calling to let him know that his CR-1 package showed up. She said he was welcome to keep his August interview date if he wanted, or he could come tomorrow and do his CR-1 interview at the K-3 interview date.

Here is the strange thing. She told him just to bring his passport and a passport photo. He asked, what about the 10 lb box of pictures, boarding passes, notarized copies etc. that my wife has been obsessing about and she said not to worry about it. She also told him to come at 8:30 instead of 7:30. I told him to bring it all anyway and still show up at 7. Worst case is he stands around for an extra hour holding stuff he doesnt need. So, wish us luck!

mrsemcee,

If you mean that you sent the I-129F form in with the I-130 and not with the receipt notice, then I'm not sure what happens. If you sent it in with the receipt notice and it gets approved, I think you can just ignore it if you decide to go with the CR-1.
