On the West Coast, that's not bad. Everything out here is so spread out. We don't like having to rub elbows with other people apparently...and of course we hate the earth.

Well out where I live a 30 mile drive could last forever. It's very dense out here, makes for traffic that flows like molasses.

Most of my drive is freeway miles and when the traffic is flowing I can get there in about 45 minutes.

Those Smart cars don't look too 'smart' to me. If you backed one of those things into a mailbox at 3MPH, they'd probably need the jaws of life to get you out of it.

These cars are intended for those who are confident with their driving skills. :D

Those cars are retarded.

I wouldn't get one. First of all, while confident in my own driving skills, I'm far from confident in the driving skills of some drunk who blows through a stop sign.

Second of all, my wife is an Asian woman.

Really, though, 50 miles? Damn.

I whine about driving to work and it's less than 10 :jest:

The terrorists must hate me!

We might be moving about 20 miles closer but it's still up in the air.

That'd be nice I bet! Sujeet now only works 9 miles away compared to 45mi for 2 years, and 37mi a year and a half before that(both taking an hour or more to get to). His first closer to home job in the US, which also means much less in gas money! It's so nice. Even with the closer drive, he drives the '96 honda civic DX hatchback and now picks up a co-worker most mornings, which means more contribution to the gas cost. Oh, and he does bring his own lunch to work. :P He's too frugal to go out to eat every day.

Wow - that's a huge difference! :o:thumbs: I bought one of those Igloo Ice Cubes for bringing stuff to work since I have no A/C in the car and it's such a far drive, but I've been running out of the house on my to work and forgetting to bring lunch....too much VJ in the mornings is what Jinky would say.

Most times I travel using public transportation anyway. The city is too crowded. Traffic, and horrible parking places. You know. Boston, and Cambridge if you've been there. Best way to commute is by taking the T (sub). If you do, make sure you don't look too fancy or too rich. Around sunset, there are lots of thieves.

The 2010 Chevy Malibu Hybrid isn't worth the buy. I read in the Car Buyer magazine that this car is still a gasaholic. It consumes the same amount of gas as the gasoline one.

Amazingly, the new Ford Taurus(or maybe the focus, forgot which one) Hybrid 2010 model consumes less gas than the Toyota Camry Hybrid 2010. Toyota has always dominated fuel efficiency in terms of hybridization. Even the 2009 Ford Focus Hybrid from Ford only let it increase it fuel mileage to 1 or 2 point difference compared to the gasoline; and surprisingly the new 2010 hybrid machine is many times more efficient.

Thanks for your post Neils Bohr.

Hard to believe 2010 models are for sale already.

In the old days the next year's models would not be available until least September/October. Strange...

The rest-a-ya are funny and not too help-full.

Thanks anyways...the clan here is always good a giggle or two.

I checked these wonder-full sites out first and then hit some dealerships today.

It was all quite illuminating.

More on that later...I am too tired to type it up at the moment.

Go to the last area on the page (on the right) click both those little boxes and hit enter.

If you really hated the earth and were truly an American, you would drive a Hummer or somthing that only gets about 10mpg. Slacker.

They'd only be safe if you never went on a highway. If you stayed in the city and never drove over 25mph, you should be ok. They would be great to park in the city.

Quite true. Driving in Boston can be interesting, to say the least.

What qualifies a car as low emissions? 30+, 40+mpg?

The mustang can get 30 if you drive 10 under the speed limit on the highway. In the city it gets 12mpg.
