i am looking for administrative/clerical. or my favourite human resources assistant. i am going back to school to study human resource management and/or counselling

I am doing my MS in HR Management right now - Have you thought about temping? If you don't need a job with benefits, it's a great way to feel out a variety of corporations / roles - and often with long term temp jobs you land in a really good position.

I am trying to work, but not really motivated - I went online and downloaded the articles I have to read this week, bc my classes started today - 200 pgs

WOW SUS, I REALLY BEEN SLACKING I NEED TO GET BACK ON TRACK :crying::crying:

I am not on track Nels - this is DAY ONE of the semester

well i bought a book about HR management hoping to do some personal studies until i am ready to go back to school i did study HR for 1 semester in college and i loved it. tell me more about this temp job. i applied to get a government job through american data group. i am waiting on the paperwork to see the vacancies in gary. hopefully that will work out.

I'm doing good. Conmar went and got some of his need shots today...guess he has to go back next month to get some more. I was shocked he went and did that without me even telling him to.

Hey Dillion, I saw your packet 3 was sent out, our was sent out but we never received it.... we just got an appt to drop off the info..

I'm not counting on him getting it either. He has an appointment on February 4th to drop off his info.

We decided to try it. He went today to go and do it but they were closed? So he is on his way back now to see if they are open now but if not he is going to go and try again tomorrow. He went to the RGD for the Non impediment form yesterday and just FYI to everyone the fee used to be $5000J but he said it is now $8000J.

Quanna he did make me proud and I even told him so.

OMG!!!! Like $5k wasn't bad enough......

That's what I'm saying!!

Question: What is RGD? Registar's??

Is there anything in packet 3 that is crucial to have that can't be found elsewhere on-line? Seems like those packets don't get where they need to go very often....one more thing to stress about.

This is true....Jake's is our resident counselor/ advice columnist!

Registars General ? Don't know what the D stands for.

No there is nothing that you can't get online that is in packet 3 from my understanding. When your time comes if you want I will be more than happy to help you.

Jakeswife, a temp job is where you register with an agency, and they send you out on job assignments - My friend was just temping in my department - she was there for about 5 months, and it added a whole bunch of stuff to her resume - it's a great way to try out different jobs and see what fits - a lot of corporations, especially in admin jobs, use temp to hire - because it gives a trial period without having to commit to all the benefits, etc... in today's economy especially, it's a great way to get your foot in the door, and more companies are using temps because of hiring freezes.

Oh, I just remembered something! I was talking to my Mom last night and apparently my Dad has a female cousin (who I've never really heard anything about) who called the other day. My uncle (Dad's bro) is very nosey and curious about my situation with my Jamaican. I'm ashamed to admit it but, I come from a long line of bigots and it's amazing that my Dad has somewhat accepted this situation (Mom was always okay). However, it seems uncle (who has never had much to do with my life) suddenly wants to get involved and know all of my business. He even sent my cousin (his daughter) to ask me what was up since her and I are closer and do talk frequently. I gave her the rundown and next thing you know, my business is being broadcast to family members I don't even know. So this cousin lady talks to my dad for a minute and then he hands the phone off to my mom. Mom tells me that the cousin lady starts telling her about her daughter who brought a Jamaican man over, they had two kids right away and now they split up and the man wants sole custody of the kids. And I'm thinking, 'SO WHAT??!?' It gets irritating when people you don't even know start in with these cautionary tales as if all of the misfortunes they've been witness to are SURELY going to happen to you too if you get involved with this type of person. I blew it off and pretty sure Mom did too but the more I started thinking about it, the more I got annoyed. I don't know this damn person so what is it her business to get involved when she doesn't even know me and probably hasn't even talked to my Dad in decades??

Thanks for reading....*end rant*

Thanks, Dillon!

I do have one question though (should I start a new thread?). After the NOA2 goes through, is it just the DS230 that the beneficiary has to send to the consulate? I've completed the DS156, 156k, & 157 as well as the 230 in order to take them all to him so we don't have to mess with FedEx-ing but I'm trying to figure out which one he'll need vs. the forms that can wait until the interview. I know, I have to go back and read through the guides but if it's fresh in anyone's memory, I'd appreciate the input!

Good advice, Sus! This is so true these days....my resume is chock full of temp assignments and it really gave me a broad background of experience. I list them on my resume by temp agency....each agency listed with the chronological order of the different assignments I had with each.

You just have to return the DS230 to the Embassy and then you take all the others to the interview.
