Well Jakeswife, I don't know about other parents but I am not a hitter at all, now I am a yeller, so Brycie knows when I have raised my voice she has gone over-board. She will straighten up. My parents were not hitter, so I don't believe in it. Now I have seen my cousins get beaten with shoes, belts , broom handles.

You can disciple a child to respect you as a parent without hitting. I have a rule in my house no one raises their hand to another person, because I don't want my daughter to think it is okay if a man should want to use her as a punching bag.

Good everning to everyone.....

Bless

See Rox..it's a toally dif way in JA if ur parent slaps u...it is not right man or woman to hit another..I do believe some kids fi get slap every now and then..ir ur a woman and u slap her daughter why would she think that it is ok for a MAN to hit her...the child must separate discipline from torture or abuse..

Jakeswife are you saying if you are pregnant you don't want to drive?

a little slap to the baxside once in a while won't hurt and i will not make it a habit that it becomes my only means of communicating dsicipline to my children. my mother give me a couple red A##ss when i was growing up and it didn't spell abuse nor did we percieve her actions to be abusive. i am just saying that kids today are very defensive and daring these days and it hurks me that parents are not bothered by the way their kids respond to them. so rox not talking about ""ALEX HALEY ,ROOTS"" treatment just proper disciplinary skills

Kimmy, I agree some kids do need some type of discipline, but some people don't know how to seperate discipline from abuse. So, it sometime become a blended action, where has the discpline turns into abuse. Yes, some kids needs to be jacked up in the collar..... I have seen too many young ladies accept abuse from their boyfriends because they have seen there mothers abused by her boyfriend. The lines get blurred....

Jake and Kimmy I do understand where you'll are coming from, but not all parents know when to stop. I remember when i first met Joel, and I was correcting my Brucie and I was just talking to her, but in a low but stern voice. Joel said to me you know I am going to marry you, because our child will never be hit. I had to ask him to explained to me why he was saying this. He did explain to me how some kids are discplined in JA, but I corrected him and say kids are discplined that way her too, but I realized that I could get a better reaction out of Trouble by lowinf my voice but making it stern. That I didn't need to hit or even yell at her. I know this don't work for every child, and all parent have disciple methods that work for them. The one thinf you must always make the child aware of is, that you as the parent is the one in charge. This being friends with your children is a big crock of shyt. I can be your friend, but I am still the parent and I am in charge.
