BTW - Where is Marlita?

And Yaads?

I am totally down for discussion, anything but eveything, I am like an open book...... Also I am not trying by any means at all to discourage anyone in this thread, but it is dog e dog wworld out there, and we all need a sounding board, and for all the talking that is done... I would like for more people to open there selves up , and ask the questions that they have hesitated to ask before..... I know I wished I had asked a few things, and had some experiences to reflect on before my journey began

Should we discuss in the thread Marlita started? If so, I'll bump it.

Perfect place!

Hey ya'll.

I'm taking a little break..I'm so bone tired from working long hours.. I had to let tea go for a minute and go back to coffee and I'm on my third cup

eeek Wakey...you will be zinging around there now!!

Lata ladies - I'm off to a pizza party for my baby!

Yaads is great.

Okay, we can have more adjustment discussions tomorrow. I bumped it so people can start reading.

WE as woman want to know more about our men and help them adjust the best we can...... From what I have experienced and other woman that I have spoken with can agree that there are certain ways that will never change , when they come here... that we may not find acceptable... 1. Staying out all hours of the eveing ,2. Talking to any or every female that comes across you, and taking there #... Being on the phone all hours of the night.... 2. Chatting online all hours of the night. 4. Understanding that bills come before clothes, shoes,etc.... 5. That we are not trying to MOM, but showing you the best way that we know, just like they would if we were to move to Jamaica....

I've not had the other issues but I think the hanging out is bad enough. I might get a gun if the other issues were happening. post-37934-1233870564.gif and then go get wasted post-37934-1233870595.gif

Intimacy, like charity, begins at home. If we cannot be intimate with ourselves, we have no way to bring to intimacy with another person.

Intimacy with ourselves takes time. We need time for rest, time for walks, time for quiet, and time to tune into to ourselves. We cannot completely fill up our lives with activities and become intimate with ourselves. Nor can we just sit quietly indefinitely and become intimate with ourselves. We have to have the time and energy to be our lives and to do our live in order to establish and intimate relationship with ourselves.

Surprisingly, as we become intimate with ourselves, we discover our connection with others

I've noticed we always talk about the adjustment of the SO but never really discussed the adjustment of the US citizen. Since "we" are sharing experiences, I'll share mine. I actually had no issues with my husband while he was in Jamaica. He barely went out and we made a clear understanding that we would not use indecent language to each other (totally his idea). 7 years strong. He came up and there hasn't been an adjustment problems on his behalf. The adjustments issues are more of my own. Here I was, young, educate, independent, homeowner, own car, career goals outlined, which leads to me having a selfish attitude. Let me make it clear...not selfish in a MONEY sense. We have no issues with control money. He loves every bit of me..and all of my traits. I was so use to it being just me and not having to worry or think about anyone else. I would do little things like lock the door and forget he is outside. It's been the little things that I would do, like leave my towel from the shower on the bed in the morning. I just had to get use to living with someone in the same room sharing the same bed. One selfless act was me giving up my side of the bed. I now was in the position where I had to put my foot down at work and make sure I get home at a decent hour at least half the week. I stop going home from work and working. I had to re-assess what I wanted in my career and fit my family life in it.

I'm very happy right now. I'm as in love as I was 7 years ago. I read all of the stories on here and I'm in disbelief or sadness because I'm an optimist and always want thing to work for the good. But I'm really posting this to see how many of us has looked at OUR adjustment?

Thanks Portland - it's different when you go to JA 4-5 times a year visiting your man.

Just because my current relationship consists of visiting, doesn't mean I don't know what I am talking about or I haven't been through some of the exact same issues in the past with another man - Regardless of whether I am visiting or not - If I accept something now, then I can't expect my man to become this whole new person when he moves and change his behaviors - Now is the time to discuss these issues - not after they arrive.

i have dated my different share of man, thinking that it would be lessons learned for the future, but if you have never dealt with someone from another country before it is different, bottom line................You can discuss with your man all you want before he gets here.... that is just talk................ACTIONS that is what it comes down too.... I was on vacation when I met my spouse, and everytime I visited I was on vacation.... Him coming here I was not on vacation, I am here making a living , paying bills, sacrificing .... Until they arrive here and see America is not throwing free stuff at u and money does not grow on trees... well u know where I am going with this.....

This is so true..talk is one thing and action once they get here is another.

Hotlegz you're right too - I accepted all of this while I was on VACATION. It seems to be getting better but I do wonder who will adjust more..me or him.

Oh, come on dillon it is so good when I make it and I put little dumplins, not the spinners. I only use the spinner dumplins when I do oxtail or browstew, okay...how about fish head soup?
