My friend just e-mailed me to tell me how her husband got so drunk last night, when he got into bed, he didn't realize the dog was between them, and kept feeling the poor thing up, thinking it was her.

My whole day has been kind of surreal like that today!

Good observation ELLS, i saw that movie but never noticed it.. that is the older movie with Robin Williams??? and i think his wife committed suicide or something?? i might have to rewatch it???

I am at work, after playing hooky yesterday only to have 2 psych hospital visits to do, one was the guy who flipped out over not lighting a cigarette on the stove and kicked his home manager in the back, and the second one is hilarious....my client was mad cause he found out his group home has bed bugs, so he snuck in the bathroom and called his psychiatrist( who is not a CMH psychiatrist) but a private one and told him he didnt want to stay at the house, he needed to come to the hospital cause of bed bugs( this is totally not a psych issue) next thing you know a ambulance shows up at the group home to cart him away... STaff had not clue what happened until he told them as he was being wheeled away...... ( sigh) so i get to go see him....HOORAY!

Yep! That was the movie...had never seen it before last night. It was beautiful cinematography but that casting of heaven and hell really left me with a sour taste and nearly ruined the movie for me.

Dyam, I wouldn't want to stay in a place with bed bugs either (EEEE GADS!!) but using an ambulance for transport is a serious misuse and abuse of public services!

ANd his stupid psychiatrist needs a kick in the azz for allowing him to allow a psych hospitalization over something so stoopid. Hell the group home moved all the clients out the house and has all of them lodged in a hotel while the house is being exterminated. Pscyh admits are for suicidal ideations, intent of harm to self or others, a host of reasons but not BED BUGS!

One of my first paralegal jobs was for a plaintiff's firm that did personal injury and medical malpractice - one of our attorneys was also a doctor - I had to take intake screening calls for the med mal cases - We used to get calls ALL the time from people in psych hospitals - all about how they had a med mal case because they were being held hostage,..... they wanted to talk to Dr. Bob, the attorney advertised in the phone book - Who in the hell puts yellow pages in the psych hospital?

Ells, you would be surprised how much public services are used for what really shouldn't be.

Actually I'm not surprised. I've seen enough abuse to hardly be surprised by anything. My Mom is an admit clerk in an ER and tells me all the time about how people come in when it's totally unnecessary just because they're looking for a meal or drugs. And that's just one sector of public services....don't even get me started on some extended family whose careers are abusing welfare!

Has anyone here seen the movie 'What Dreams May Come'? It was okay...enough for me to not 'not like it'. I might have really liked it except for a couple things. 1) At just under 2 hours, it was still a bit too long and convoluted and 2) (this is what knocked it down a star) is that I made a little observation about the director's idea of heaven and hell that really bothered me. In the depiction of heaven, it was mostly white people floating around and la la la. Once they got to the gates of hell, who did they cast? Mostly black people! #######??? That stereotypical BS notion that all 'good' people are white and 'bad' people are black. And these Hollywood directors keep perpetuating that #######. For that I *almost* didn't like the movie but it had other good elements.

That would've bothered me right from the start. I would love to see who has big enough kahunas to cast a movie where all bad people are white and the good people are black!!

Of course I'm kind of over-generalizing but that was basically my take on it. The scene at the gates of hell didn't come till much later in the movie so it only occurred to me then. But when you see the scene where Williams' character is on these steps in a heavenly city, it appears that it is mostly a white cast with the exception of the asian woman interacting with him. Then, later on when the hell scenes happen, Cuba Gooding is about to enter the gates of hell and run into the menacing arms of the mob at the gate, who of course is mostly made up of black people in scary paint! Just bothered me!
