Seriously, I am filipina but I dont like to see topic like this.. Admit it or not, some people will get offended.. We Filipinos dont want to be generalized, dont want to be treated badly, but let us respect also others that does not want to be generalized as well. I love equality and hate prejudism...This is how racism starts. Of course some people will react and the more people will respond to this topic..

Lets just say, that we never looked for someone outside,, it is just coincidence that God gave us different person with different values in life that will understand us more.

I never questioned my husband as why he chose me, as I believe it was destiny that brought us together.

There are certainly cultural differences. Even the Philippines, there are some negative cultural traits - like how you are treated based on your social class - house help is considered the lowest, or that husbands often get away with having a girlfriend or two on the side - that rarely happens in the US without it resulting in divorce.

I am american citizen man. I was married 20 years to an american woman-first marriage.I dated many american women after i divorced until i met my asawa and we have been married 6 mos. My life now as compared to what it was with what i see and know about american women is great. This is not somethin that i planned to do nor did i ever imagined i would do to travel halfway around the world to get my wife. I praised and thank God everyday for the life i have now. I am still wondering though, why filipinas? I am from Phil's neighbour country and I would say that some Southeast Asian countries' ladies are not that much different with Filipina's in terms of holding family orientation value. Let's say.. Thai, Indonesian, or Malaysian. I have had this question a long ago too, it's not answered yet

About your question why Filipinas? I have reason to believe that religion is a big factor. If I am not mistaken, a Muslim woman (Indonesia, Malaysia) is forbidden from marrying a man if he is not Muslim, even more so if he is American. Buddhists (Thailand), on the other hand, are very conservative and traditional. A white man will probably be viewed as "unacceptable" for a daughter. Ergo, there is a slim chance for an American man to find a wife in other SE Asian countries.

There is also the perception that Filipina women are more "western" than our neighbors. English is also widely spoken so it is easier for Americans to communicate.

just telling u...we american woman are not as bad as these men say but it is them who has the double standards. im not here to bash the men here but just to set the record straight.

In defense of the American woman, my mother-in-law is American as can be, but she is a good wife, mother, in-law, grandma, and friend. The best MIL ever! I just love her!

since not all men in america are running to the philipeans for a wife i would say that not all men in the united states are thinking the same as these men here. there are alot of men who are happy with the american woman so that means there is nothing wrong with us at all.

also the men here have grown up in the same society as we have so if they call us spoiled then what are they then? not only american woman can be spoiled u know.

the reason the woman here act the way they do is because of how they were treated in the past. the woman stayed home, raised the man's kids, cooked, cleaned, ironed her husbands clothes...etc and then man was out sleeping with his secretary...secretary gets pregnant....man dumps wife for his lover...leaving wife and kids to defend themself....thus, womans rights evolved. courts started siding with the woman because she was doing her job as a wife....man broke up the marriege with cheating...woman gets alimony....man gets mad because he has to support his ex and kids....man hate american woman for that.

example 2. woman supports man while he go gets his education and then dumps wife when he gets his degree.

yes believe it or not...this is what changed the woman back in the day. they had to become self sufficient for her own sake as well as her kids.

Pinays are smart, girl. We know about the rules here. They are basically the same with the laws in the Philippines when it comes to support and everything. It's common knowledge that if your husband dumps you for another girl and you have kids, you and your kids are entitled to support. It's mandated by the laws, you know, we read books too!
