I was addressing a very different culture......that will never do anything to pull themselves out of their plight....will have more kids to collect a bigger check, and will pass the same mentality on to their kids.

Could you be more specific? I am confused.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

I've seen the welfare folk take their food stamps to the 7-11's and trade em for 50 cents on the dollar so they could play the ponies and buy the crack.

They used to do something similar here in TX in the 1970's and 1980's when Uncle Sugar used to issue food stamps. It was basically printed paper money in various denominations, but it wasn't greenback dollars...it was food stamps. Not real money. I used to watch the welfare weenies go through the supermarket line to buy the bare minimum with the food stamps so they could get real dollars in change. They were only allowed $3 or so in real money change. Mostly change for $5 food stamp denominations. They would do that until they had enough dollar change to buy cigs or beer which they were prohibited to buy with food stamps. It was obvious what they were doing when they went through the line 2 or 3 times. Nobody at the store cared. They weren't the welfare police.

Welfare weenies also used to sell the food stamps for 50 cents (or less) on the dollar to get real money so they could buy what they want without restriction. I grew up with a guy whose family owned a convenience store that took food stamps. He often outright bought the stamps for even less than 50 cents on the dollar to alcoholics and druggies so they could get cash to get their sh*t. He didn't care...he just cashed them in to Uncle Sugar dollar for dollar and made a hefty profit breaking the law. That was the way it was. A lot of fraud. In Houston at that time jobs were plentiful and the people I saw doing this ####### were able bodied. I despised them. It was a sick joke.

Now they have the preloaded debit cards called the Lone Star card. I'm sure it can still be gamed, but not nearly as easy as the paper food stamps. I still see way too many illegal aliens at the local supermarket that get the card because of their anchor babies. Total bullshit. It isn't right and it costs the US taxpayer billions for people that shouldn't be here in the first place and have no legal right to be here, period. The joke continues.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Laugh all you want to...at least I don't live in a state on the brink of bankruptcy. The joke is on you. ;)

I'll still waiting for the history lesson on European welfare states...

...as for CA, I don't think there's a real problem, just a paper one - a lack of paper with $'s printed all over it :)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I wish you the best, peejay - that you shall never become physically unable to work and have to collect on welfare to supplement your social security. I hope your company has not and will not squander away your pension, or that your wife doesn't become stricken with some debilitating illness that bankrupts you. Because I can't imagine would a huge pill you'll have to swallow to accept outside help when you need it.

Mr Pants, it rather sounds as though you would like all that and more to befall on Peejay, just so you can say 'told you so'. I really hate that line of reasoning.

Yes, the world is full of victims that can only be saved by the US government and the US taxpayer. It is futile to even attempt to be self sufficient and independent. We should all roll over and surrender to the inevitable. After all, we are victims. It's not our fault.
