Hi Guys hope you are all doing fine, now that i got my Green Card and started a job thanks to your valuable information and advice, i am thinking about going to college, but i have some questions :

1 - Do i need to file a change of address application if i go to college, because the college is not where do i live right now but in another city, even if i will still go back home during breaks and week ends ?

2 - Everybody know that going to college cost a lot of money ! my question is : Am I eligible for any kind of Financial aid ? like grants, loans, scholarships, ....

Thank you in advance !

1) not unless your move is intended to be permanent

2) The financial aid office is your best source... Some federal programs are "means tested benefits", so they may not be available to you.

YMMV

Regarding financial aid, you are eligible to get it as any American citizen, after you get a green card.

I was delighted to find out about it after I applied for AOS! Check this site out:

"14. Citizenship status. You can receive federal student financial aid only if you are a U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen. If you have changed from a noncitizen to a citizen and have not informed the SSA, contact the SSA to update your status. Otherwise, the SSA may report that you are not a citizen, and you will have to provide citizenship documentation before receiving aid.

For financial aid purposes, an eligible noncitizen is one of the following:

A U.S. permanent resident who has a Permanent Resident Card (I-551 or I-151)

A conditional permanent resident (I-551C)

A noncitizen with an Arrival-Departure Record (I-94) from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) (specifically, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) showing any one of the following designations: "Refugee," "Asylum Granted," "Parole" (the I-94 must confirm 'paroled for a minimum of 1-year and status' has not expired), or "Cuban-Haitian Entrant"

If you are neither a citizen nor an eligible noncitizen, you are not eligible for federal student aid (...)"
