Same here, I can't read or write either. I speak Vietnamese pretty fluently (since my oldschool parent don't speak a lick of english) but coming back to the motherland I sometime don't understand some phrases or things people are saying sometimes. I guess the dialect that changes all the time in the motherland makes it hard for Viet Kieu like me to understand sometimes. It's getting better for me since I've been living here for a year. Oh well all that matters to me is that I understand my wife. I am so glad my wife's family and my family are Bac 1954, cause hearing today's northern and southern talk it's a little difficult for me to understand sometimes, especially the trung people.

I am not real sure what that stuff is and now am curious.

luckytxn,

Nuoc mat is made out of FISH SAUCE, it's original from PHAN THIET. It's a salty liquid made from fermented anchovies. The taste is very good and spicy, but you don't want to see how it made. I personally never see it before, I heard my friends told me after you see how it made, and you won't want to eat NUOC MAT again.

Hey Dai, you been approved from NOA2, mine is not. let work together with NVC. I will be in VN in 2 weeks. cool with you.

I am trying to gather documents to do NVC right now. My wife just submited the form for Phieu Ly lich Tu Phap on friday and they are saying it's going to take 3 weeks. I'm thinking maybe 4 since tet is next week. I could throw them some more money but I am tired of paying for everyone's "coffee" in Vietnam. I am also gathering my tax papers and I gotta get my company to make me an employment letter but thats easy. I hope you are prepared better than I am and have all the documents before your NOA2 approval. As far as actually going through NVC I am debating on either having my immigration attorney take care of the paperwork or actually try to do it myself. I know the attorney could take longer but I paid him already. And I guess I am not in a real hurry because I am priviledged to be here with my wife until she gets to come to the US. I can try to help you as much as I can, I guess, but just letting you know I am not well prepared as many other people on this forum.

Country: Vietnam
Timeline

I looked it up and have had it many times. It is a fish dipping sauce. Very fragrant and nice taste at times. I read how it is made and trust me it does not bother me at all. Still am not good with Vietnamese names. Trang and I have to speak always in English so she can learn. We did long ago try to teach each other but for about 6 months or more we have been only English.

NO NO NO, seriously, Leggs, you have to go to PHAN THIET to see how they actually made nuoc mam, not the one we buying from store or already been made. I know the detail from a friend of mine, but I just don't want to ruin all your taste. hihih. Just ask your wife or fiance to explain to you more.

Is your attorney from US or VN? My is from VN, I only paid him $250, because his will help my wife for the interview, and all the paperwork, plus translate all my document from vnese to English.

My wife got her PHIEU LY LICH TU PHAP last week. All our paperwork are ready for the NVC. Once USCIS is approve.

- 3 years of tax papers.

- My company employment letter.

- Phieu Ly Lich Tu Phap from my wife.

I am using a Vietnamese Attorney from the US. Which attorney are you using in Vietnam? Maybe I'll get 2 attorneys if I feel 1 is not enough and $250 is pretty cheap. Good luck on the USCIS approval soon. You seem well over prepared than I am.
