Can't someone who's already successfully filled out this form tell me which box i need to check? Oh woe! :c

This is section 33a in Part II of DS-230 form. There are two boxes:

Have you any applied for SIN: Check the box NO

Do you want the Social Security Administration to assign you an SSN: Check the box YES

section 33b. Check the box YES

Remember : DO NOT sign part II. You will be asked to sign at the interview by the officer. Good luck

When you are approved, the SSA will send you a card in the mail after arrival into the US, nifty eh?

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

I have seen a lot of people who ticked YES but did not receive any SSN,including myself.I was waiting and waiting for it to arrive in the mail. After a few months I still did not receive it.I had to go to the local office and apply for it myself. I also know a few people that waited for six months to receive it and it did not turn up.They had to apply for it after six longggggg months.
