Good foreign aid would be interesting. Unfortunately you have the school of thought that is quite prevalent in this country that its OK to profit off of others without investing in others' beyond keeping the profit structure based only so that it benefits the profiteer and its helping hands.

A worthwhile investment it would make. All the money spent on the boarder could have done wonders for the Mexican economy.

Indeed. Very interesting as it would create a larger consumer market for US goods. Oh well. I guess that old line of reasoning that we can be just fine profiteering at the company level's stock off of foreign labor is enough since its- according to that same line of reasoning and quite unrelated to the topic... not 'our' responsibility to make sure that our presence in those bipolar economies is perpetuating a status quo that ironically has some of us scrambling to seal our borders as a direct consequence.

You mix together a bit of nationalism, isolationism, xenophobia and sprinkle of racism - and you get our overall approach towards our southern neighbor.

Canadians are a pretty easy-going bunch but I can't ever see them wanting a union with the US. Well, maybe Quebec.

I don't see the U.S. and Canada merging either, but if doing so makes money, it might be a possibility.
