I-130 processing times

Hi

I am new to visit journey and the Visa process. I am Canadian and as well new to having to obtain a visa to become a US citizen in the future. I am currently in a relationship, and my boyfriend is a US citizen living temporarly in the US and Canada( he has dual) We are expecting our first child in April and I will be going to stay with him in Florida temporarly till he finishes school. However I do want to have my US citizenship and will be needed now that our daughter will also get hers automatically. I been looking at the diffrent ways for me to move there legally. One being the I-130 which I would get sponsored through my step father who is a citizen. However now I keep hearing that it can take years for a Visa to become available, I want to ask what some personal experiences are with this and how long did it take for a visa to become available?

The quickest route is the fiance visa -- maybe six to seven months. A spousal visa can take up to a year or even more.

Yea that I looked at as well, and the student way, because I am considering going to school there as well. If we were to do the Fiance, one we'd have to get married in US. Within how many months 13? I think

Once the I-129F is granted for the fiance visa, you will have 90 days to marry and adjust your status.

From what I've known friends (who married US citizens) after going to school, obtaining a working visa, then get a company to sponsor you. It's MUCH easier that way. My cousin had his company sponsor him, then his wife & him petitioned for adjustment of status. There was a few week layover between the visas, but he now has a green card!
