In USA some people just put they have graduate or post graduate degrees on applications and get hired at a higher wage.

my question is anybody been through the steps of alternating way of becoming a teacher.... yes i want to be a teacher....

Check out Teach America.

If you teach a subject that is in high demand (math, science), there are alternative licensure programs. The way to do this is located on state specific education web sites (whoever the governing body is at the state level).

What subject do you want to teach? My husband wants to become an English/LA teacher and lucky for him, his undergrad major is English so that meant he'd already fulfilled the required credits for his endorsement. Because of this he was able to gain entry into a one year accelerated Master of Teaching program here in Washington. He had to sit both the West-B(asic) and West-E(ndorsement) exams to gain entry into his course (WA's version of the Praxis I and Praxis II).

Anyway I found the New Jersey Department of Education website here: http://www.state.nj.us/education/educators/license/

The information on their Alternate Route Program is here: http://www.state.nj.us/education/educators...e/alternate.htm It looks like a very straightforward process however take note of one of the requirements for the CE is:

For subject area endorsements, complete at least 30 credits in a coherent sequence of courses appropriate to the instructional area. At least 12 semester-hour credits must be at the advanced level of study, including junior, senior or graduate level study. For the elementary school endorsement, complete a liberal arts, science, dual content or interdisciplinary academic major or a minimum of 60 semester hour credits in liberal arts and/or science.

If you want to become a high school teacher you may need to return to school to gain the required credits for your endorsement. A list of programs can be found here: http://www.nj.gov/education/aps/heqi/licensure.htm

Ihavequestions's suggestion of Teach America is a good one too. My husband has a cousin who is a Communication & Poli Sci major. She went on Teach America for a few years, decided that teaching was for her and later returned to get her M.Ed in Elementary Ed. She is now in her 7th year of teaching with the NYC dept of ed and she loves her job.
