It was returning to land after hitting a flock of birds. No one is left on board according to Fox news. Both engines failed because they hit geese. . . . .

The geese!

Hopefully not Canadian Geese.

haha blame canada for everything

eta: I'm sorry but I can't stop laughing because they're saying "the birds took out the engines

eta x2:  ok seriously "possible bird strike"

NEW YORK – A US Airways plane has crashed into the Hudson River, sending passengers fleeing for safety in the frigid waters. Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Laura Brown says the US Airways Flight 1549 had just taken off from LaGuardia Airport enroute to Charlotte, N.C., on Thursday when the crash occured in the river near 48th Street in midtown Manhattan.

Brown says the plane, an Airbus 320, may have been hit by birds.

Pilot did an amazing job what ever happens out of this. That's just nuts! Set up for a landing on a river in an Airbus. Yikes.

Apparently the birds are still not confirmed. The pilot reported engine trouble shortly after take off and witnesses of its landing said there was smoke from one of the engines. It does appear that everyone is safe. That is excellent news. Now I am just waiting to hear from a friend who is a flight attendent on US airlines and who flies out of Charlotte, NC! I hope she wasn't on that flight, but sure glad they are all ok. That pilot did a phenomenal job of bringing that plane down for a safe water landing with no engines.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

0mgosh!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

hey Cat they just said Canadian geese :o

**. I had a feeling in my heart. Those little stinkers. Always giving us a bad name. Pooping on cars, chasing golfers, disabling plane engines. But America overcame with an excellent pilot. Please accept my apologies. We have no control over them in Canada either.
