LOL. Yes we are moving right along for sure to a police state. I am well aware of what Franklin said and have tried in vain to let people know where we are heading but I am just a truck driver. Also I have no choice but to allow them free access to search my truck when they want. This is not a personal vehicle. Even if I was a owner operator and it was my own they can search any commercial vehicle a DOT certified officer thinks needs searching. I even have been pulled over for what is called a document check on the side of highways. They want to see my logs and bill of ladings. I also because I have a haz mat endorsement on my license had to be fingerprinted and had back ground search by the Feds.

Of course they want to control us and can come up with any reason they want to install cameras to monitor us at all times but we know why they want to do this. Strangely there are two major citizens groups that are pushing for the black boxes and cameras in our vehicles. They are known as very anti truckers and even the Feds have resisted this but now we have noticed they are not resisting much anymore. Face it everyone knows the stereotype of a trucker. The stereotype is not very flattering and no amount of arguing can change the fact. Most truckers are God fearing, hard working family people. Most are good people. With 3 million trucks on the road at a time in a day and that small minority that give us a black eye is pretty big amount.

I will be leaving Laredo tomorrow morning for Iowa and of course will go through the checkpoint northbound on I-35. The one all the illegals know is there and bypass easily. The drug smugglers also know it is there and of course are usually not stupid enough to go through it.

This is a very interesting post.

Not sure what the terms of service of VJ is about linking to others sites so:

Google "constitution free zone" first link to the ACLU

In youtube search for "dhs checkpoint" so you can get an idea of what to expect in those check points.
