Hello,

The Montreal Consulate said it mailed our packet 3 instructions out on January 7th. I am sick of waiting!

Is it true that they will just tell me to send the DS230 form part 1 in? And to gather all necessary documents for the interview but NO date correct? It is my understanding that the date is given AFTER I hand in the DS230.

Question:

Since I know the packet 3 was sent out, and is somewhere in the mail (I presume, unless it went to NVC again), could I not just send in the DS230 today if I wanted?? I downloaded the latest version and already filled it out.

I know I need to be patient, but we have already lost 3 months and counting due to it being sent to the wrong consulate. UGH.

Thanks

Actually there are a couple forms you need to send back (the don't take long to fill out) plus a checklist that is included in the package. You can't get this checklist off the internet, you have to get the original in your package to sign and return with your forms. You can find a .pdf of what the checklist looks like in this site's wiki, if you search 'Canada.' http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Canada

However, you letter says you need to have all of the documents on the checklist before you mail it back, but you will definitely have enough time to get them between your receiving your packet 3 (you can mail it back the same day if you want) and your interview date. For me, it was ten weeks between my mailing back the packet 3 stuff and getting my packet 4. My interview is 5 weeks after the date I received my packet 4. All that is required of the checklist is confirmation that you have the required documents to show at your consulate interview. Of course, if you don't have them it's a tiny white lie, but you can start collecting them now, like the criminal background check which you can get at your local police headquarters. You'll have to make an appointment for your medical examination when you get the package, as it includes a (very short) list of approved doctors. It sounds like a lot of things to do, but this step is actually very easy.

Have you had your interview date yet? My K-1 was sent to Consulate in Montreal on Mar.12. Do you know when I should expect to receive my packet 3 and also when to expect to have interview?

Thanks

No I have not had my interview yet and am still waiting for the interview date letter. If you just sent in your NOA2 to the Consulate and are waiting for packet 3, mine was delivered in about 2 months. I sent it back the next day (I am so diligent ;) January 19th, 2008. My case was a bit different tho as they had sent my NOA2 to the wrong Consulate, putting us behind 3 months. UGH. But at the moment, I am still waiting for my interview date. 7 weeks waiting so far. I have heard it takes about 10 weeks from the time you send it in to get the letter stating when your appt will be. Which will then be about 4 weeks from that date. So, I am expecting my interview around late April early May. Totally throwing a date out there, my guess is you will have your packet mid May and interview August ir September. It sounds long I know, but it is doable :)

Good Luck!!!
