Hello I'm new to this but I have noticed you guys have been helpul each other by answering their questions and i was hoping you guys could do the same for me. I'm an LPR and just married to a colombian citizen, she arrived in the US with a tourist visa. I know i can file a I-130 for her so i was wondering if i can file a I-485 or if she can apply for SSN and/or work permit along with the I-130.

Thanks and for the record this is so far the most helpful website for immigration purposes and all thanks to all of you!

Yopur wife can not file for AOS as the wife of a LPR you can file the I-130 for her but she will have to return to her home country and wait for a visa to become available to her.

There is no other way for her to stay and work in the USA.

she cant do any of the above.

She is not an immediate relative for immigration purposes.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I am fairly new to the forum too, but I think I can answer your question. Hopefully someone can correct me if I am wrong.

First let me ask you how long till your eligible to apply for citizenship?

Even filing for I-130 because of your status as a LPR it will take a long time.

I ask because I would not recommend doing a AOS in your current status as a LPR. It will take forever.

she is not elgible to file a 485.

she is not a K1 or K3...she is not an immediate relative.

guess she could stay as an illegal until the OP becomes an USC, if she doesnt get deported in the meantime.

I finally got rid of the never ending money drain. I called the plumber, and got the problem fixed. I wish her the best.

Sorry desert your reading abilities are faster than my typing skills.

Your right she could stay illegal till OP becomes a USC, but is not recommended. You never know what could happen in the mean time. Like desert said she could be deported in that time.
