Guys, do I really need to take an English proficiency test like TOEFL or IELTS before getting a job there?

They say that if you are a foreigner and is applying for a job in the US, chances are, the employers would let you take an English Proficiency Test.

Is this true or just a case-to-case situation?

Please advise...

for getting a job, they dont really care, as long as you have the license and if you can take well to them during the interview i dont think they would even bother to ask for any english certificate...all they care about is the license...

Hi sis, you dont need to take the TOEFL or IELTS,ang hinihingi lang nila ay ang RN license mo.

My sister is now in CA,and nag take siya ng NCLEX last June 2008, and hindi naman siya ni require ng English test.

Goodluck.

March or April din ako mag eexam, I have my ATT na.

Ang TOEFL and CGFNS ay for visa screen only. Some states nag re require talaga ng TOEFL AT CGFNS Certificate

Reviewed with Kaplan though I didnt have the QBank coz they said its so expensive.Practice aswering, at least 100 questions a day. Use the Kaplan Strategies. The computer stopped at 75 finished the exam for less than an hour! I passed! Registered in CA.

Don't believe the rumors that if you have alot of SATA then you are passing. I didnt have even a single SATA nor computation. Review the basic. Don't forget Pharma (whew! got alot of those! hated it!), standard prec, ned surg, immunizations and their schedules....hmmmm..

When you notice that the questions become more and more difficult, don't panic. It's a good sign! (experienced that too!)

Good luck and God bless to all those who will take the exam!

I reviewed at Kaplan-Makati for 2 months, we used the VHS and the Basic and Course Book. and waited for 1 year before I took the exam (had to reschedule coz of work). I only used Kaplan The Basics and Course Book for self review before the exam plus a small nursing dictionary which will come in handy during the review.Just make sure to answer at least 100 questions a day. If you can, use a timer. Aim for a more than 65% passing on every practice exam you make. I used Saunders as back up for the practice questions. Avoid buying too many nursing review books. It will just overwhelm you. Use max of 2 or 3. Understand the Endocrine system, its hormones and functions. It will help you with alot of drugs.

Get enough sleep. Don't force your brain to study if oversaturated already. Its lso good to study right after waking up, I feel like my brain absorbs more info when rested.Dont' review in bed!Always have a table and chair or area to study. Or choose a spot where you can think well. (hahaha sometimes i study in the bathroom back in engineering days!)hmmm...what else..basta, try to asnwer at least 100 questions a day, target 65% better if 70%. Answer first check then review all the questions.

Sleep early..wake up early and study! wink! i dunno if it will work for you, kanya kanya kasing style eh..hihihi!

cardio drugs ang lumabas, standard prec, alot or prioritizations! as in!

I still suggest to all new BSN Grads to check out the new Dr. Degree they are offering Nurses in USA.

You can become a Primary Care Physician within 2 years after having your BSN.

It take 2 years of school, which includes 1 year residency

You take the same test a Physician takes

OH YEA?!!! HOW LONG DID YOUR WIFE REVIEW FOR THE NCLEX? 2 DAYS?!!!! I DOUBT IT! HA! YOU SURE ARE MR. -KNOW-IT-ALL-BETTER-THAN-THE-REST-OF-HUMANITY-WHOSE-HEAD-IS-BIGGER-THAN-THE-BASEBALL-FIELD-AND-KNOWS-SO-MUCH-THAT-HE-MAJORS-ON-BEING-RUDE-AND-GIVING-INSULTING-REMARKS.

ITS UP TO YOU IF YOU WANT TO REVIEW FOR MONTHS OR DAYS. I'D RATHER REVIEW FOR 2 MONTHS THAN RVIEW FOR FEW DAYS AND FLUNK (LIKE SOME AMERICAN NURSES I KNOW) AND HAVE TO WAIT FOR 3 MONTHS BEFORE THEY CAN SIT FOR THE EXAM AGAIN.

THE WORLD IS BETTER OFF WITHOUT YOU.

AND YOU YEA, YOU CAN RESEARCH THE MEANING OF THIS: AWAN BIYANG TI MITTIR!:pop::pop::pop:

ARE YOU HERE TO HELP OR INSULT?

You said you reviewed in Kaplan Makati for 2 months.

My wife reviewed in Kaplan Center in USA for 4 days.

My comment is why is the actual review class so long in PI compared to USA

Please try to read and understand my comment before making non sense posts.

WHAT YOUR WIFE MAY HAVE TAKEN IS THE CRASH COURSE FEW DAYS ONLY. PLUS THE REVIEW IN THE US IS EXPENSIVE. FROM WHAT I KNOW, FEW DAYS REVIEW THERE IS EQUIVALENT TO THE THE FEE FOR THE WHOLE COMPLETE COURSE HERE. (we actually have a course outline. ex, 1 vhs wud be like around an hour and there is a whole list of vhs/subjects)

ITS BY THE WAY TO MAKE YOUR COMMENTS AND ALSO BASING ON THE PAST COMMENTS YOU MAKE, MOST OF THE TIME COMPARING AND INSULTING.

IF THAT IS THE REASON WHY YOU LEFT THAT COMMENT THEN I APOLOGIZE.

FYI: in the united states they have the kaplan complete course which also takes months! and maybe the 4 days you were referring to for the US is only the sit class class that they have with live lectures which is a part of the complete course of kaplan. if you want to gamble your options and just attend the 30 hours / 4 days class and not do anything else at kaplan then it really is "funny" because i dont think anyone would just pass after sutdying for 30 hours / 4 days...

http://www.kaplannursing.com/Nursing_Domes...ex_qbclass.html

JEFF AND MADZ: what were you scoring on your q bank and question trainers? im only getting like 50% - 76% on my q bank and on question trainers i got 66%, 60%, 57%, 63% on question trainer 1,2,3,4...saving 5,6,7, near my exam date...the kaplan q bank questions are hard man!
