yes i saw that part...that's it? thats all?

Hi tajsamericanwife... where do u live in Massachusetts? I am currently licensed now as registered nurse in Massachusetts. I took the exam last 2007 when i came to US to visit. I had my CES - Full Education Course Evaluation and its written in the evaluation that the language of instruction used in my school is in ENglish so Toefl is not really needed anymore though I took the IELTS too so I can file for my visascreen but seems useless now coz of the retrogression. So you dont really need to take the TOEFL. I got my eligibility maybe a week after the Massachusetts board of nursing got my CES report from CGFNS.

I didnt go to any review center. Try kaplan trainer CD reviewer. It really helped me alot because of the questions mostly given in NCLEX-RN are prioritization, delegation, and medications.

Goodluck!

hi john...i live in jamaica plain...its within the boston area...i work at hebrew rehabilitation center as a nursing assistant II in the medical acute care floor, they pay me well but not as much as an RN)...because i told them i have a bachelors degree in nursing and i plan to take my exam soon...i graduated last 2008 and i'm going to apply in march for the CES CGFNS in march too and im planning to take the nclex in may...i was worried the CES would take long because after i take my nclex i plan to go to the philippines to see my son and husband to visit...

do you live in the united states? or is your spouse/fiance from the UNited states? K-1? CR-1?

Hi its dothy... my husband gave his username to check on this forum. i sent you message. maybe you can add me to your ym. Yeah im currently in US now just recently filed my AOS documents. I came here on B2 visa. Im really bored and homesick doing nothing just waiting to get work permit. I really want to get job in the hospital soon. I heard its hard to find a job now in hospital in Boston. Is that true?

Dylan and Douglas...does vermont have to go though the CES in CGFNS? credentials eveluation service? how long did that take you and did you have to take the TOEFL? yes sometimes i do nclex 3500, downloaded that from the net for free... but focusing on finishing the saunders Q & A book...and cd...i have my kaplan course book for reference and reading material...

nope,..no need to go through CES,.thats the reason why i chose Vermont..take a look at their site u might wanna try there then just apply for reciprocity to the state u want to work.. nope i did not take TOEFL,i have no idea if it is still needed,..

So taj is it possible to work in US when if u have a BSN degree from forein country like Philippines without the USRN license? And if I dont have a hospital experience, will it be ok? Im an RN here in Philippines but I havent work in the area. I graduated 2007 and passed it the same year too. But it's been a year now that I havent practice my profession.

Also, I took my NCLEX-RN here in Makati last November. But I failed. I enrolled in Kaplan for 3 mos. used their books, La charity, Saunders 3rd ed. and lots of cd's but yet i still failed. Will try to take it again after our wedding. But I might just do a self-review this time.

So Im planning to do Suzanne's plan too. RIDION? You said ur starting Suzannes plan? Is it a good training. I havent sign up for it.

Taj, the english proficiency that u will be needing is the IELTS. It's the test that's required in US but u will only need that if u will undergo the visa screen but if u have a diff visa u dont need it. But yes tall is right, it depends on the state. Every state has diff requirements.

You can work in hospital, not as a RN.

No work experience needed to get hired in USA hospital, of course it helps.

SideNote:

US students only need a 2 year degree, Associate in order to be a RN in USA.

i have my BSN from the philippines...and i wanted to work and review at the same time when i got here to the united states...but i dont have my nursing license yet as i did not take my nclex yet. anyway...i am working as a nursing assistant not as an RN yet. all i did was fill out the application and when i was hired they wanted a copy of my ssn, my passport and my transcript...thats all.

and i am the american citizen, i just went to nursing school in the philippines...and i did not take the local boards in the philippines...i dont think i can though because i am not filipino...and i know that only filipinos can only take the licensure exams in their country...

my advice is: take the nclex, apply to as much hospitals as you can, you can even do it online and pick up the ones who hire you...i think some hospitals consider the experience, some consider the experience in the philippines, some dont...but make sure they know you have a BACHELORS degree...

good luck to us! GOD IS GOOD AND I FEEL 2009 IS A GOOD YEAR FOR US! GO PINOY RN!

That would be great. Thanks. Because someone told me that being exposed in the area (US hosp) might be a help in passing the test. Since, this will be my 2nd time to take it. But I wish everyone who will take it this year to pass. Godbless!

i suggest that if you have the US nursing license already...just go for it...apply for the job as an RN! no need to do something else for experience blah blah...

the only reason why i am doing this is because my sister did not want me to bum around the house and just study (which is very mean to do) ...she said i needed to get a job not just to earn money...but for the health insurance too and benefits which are important when you live here in the United States...

i work part time only anyway...

...can you let me know how to do suzanne's plan?...

Hi! If you go to this link, there's a sticky on the top of the forum.

http://allnurses.com/forums/f197/

All you need is the Saunders Comprehensive Review Book to do her plan.

Just remember..."different strokes for different folks." Some says Kaplan or Hurst is the best;

personally, I think it depends on your learning needs & abilities.

NOTE: I am not in anyway in this forum for profit just utilizing the net to help myself & others.

Good luck to all those who will be taking the nclex soon : ) Working around filipina nurses ( who were older/already married ) is one of the things that gave me so much interest in having a filipina wife. So glad I found that special someone and that she is a wonderful filipina....or as my 4 year old son says " fili-peanut"

Godspeed to all on this visa journey and the nclex journey as well.

NCLEX is not state or country specific.

It is given world wide.
