calling all filipina nurses taking the nclex soon...let's help each other...give tips on how to pass the nclex! GO RN PINOY

I am using Saunders 4th ed. and Smith's practice CD. Smith's is much challenging compared to Saunders. I try to answer 75-150 questions per day. Makes the waiting bearable.

I already have the approval to take the exam, am planning to take it by April/May.

Hey its good to know that I'm not the only one here taking this blast3d exam . I am doing self-review & uses Saunder's 4th edition + CD. Here are some tips.

1) Send your NCLEX application ONLY if you're 100% sure that you are ready to take it. Postponement/cancellation fee is expensive & it's best if you pass it in the first try.

2) It is better to stick with 1 book or study option because it gets confusing.

Did you just submit an explanation to California BON why you haven't taken local license test?

Yes, I did it. I don't have license from PI and I just submitted a written explanation why I did not take it/have no license.

For those who have no license from their country of origin, better apply for licensure by examination in California.

Congratulations! That deserves a big celebration, huh! But with that number of questions (79), there's no doubt. Impressive! You inspire me peewee. Hope I can make it too.

I just got my results for my NCLEX-RN like 2 hrs ago and I PASSED!!!

I'm still trembling...im so happy! I took the exam last Friday (jan 16 here in Indiana)

and i was convinced that i failed it. I was already gearing up for the next exam like

yesterday i started reading Saunder's again!

The exam stopped at 79 questions. I had one computation (to which i gave the

wrong answer since i didn't want to dwell so much on something i didn't know

how to calculate), 3-4 SATA (select all that apply) and 1 drag and drop type

question (it was a procedure that i didn't know of). I honestly thought that

I was guessing most of my answers...which lead me to the conclusion that

i really flunk it!

But i passed!!! So to all those who are going to take it...

HAVE FAITH IN YOURSELF! YOU WILL MAKE IT!

Massachusetts does not require you to have a license in the country where you studied nursing. the advantage of the CES / CGFNS is if you move to another state. maybe some states will allow reciprocity of the license from california to wherever...but some might not without the CES / CGFNS, and who knows, you might not live in california forever. i think new york does its own CES thing too...

i think CES is a waste of money and time too...but like i said, are you 100% sure you will be a nurse in california forever?

the nursing program in the philippines is a BACHELORS DEGREE and your pinay wife would not need any extra classes or more hours of clinical rotation because the program is very sufficient in the philippines and like i said its a bachelors degree...

Exactly, the California BON does the CES on their own. My Transcript of Records and the breakdown of my academic nursing subjects were sent directly from the school where I finished my nursing degree to them after I sent my requests to the school.

I finished my BS Nursing degree too last March 2008 and it was a long way to wait for me to take the local exam when my visa was released early July 2008.

It is not a basis that since english is the medium of instruction or even used in textbooks in PI be exempted from taking the english proficiency test because basically Filipino is the primary language in PI. There are some states that require the submission of TOEFL/IELTS passing results. Georgia is one of those. PI is not one of the countries identified of which their nationals are exempted of English Proficieny test. The countries exempted include Canada, UK, Switzerland and Australia.

In my opinion, No state should require a local licesnes in order to sit for NCLEX in USA.

As far as I know, for one to be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN, he/she must meet the academic requirements of the baccalaureate degree of Nursing or the Bachelor of Science in Nursing. If the board of nursing found out that there are lacking of the academic nursing subjects in your nursing course then you will be advised to take and complete those.

It's also the reason why the California BON required the applicant to submit the breakdown of the academic nursing subjects. It is no longer necessary to take a 2 year Nursing degree here in US to sit the NCLEX-RN if you meet the minimum requirements.

You are a US citizen & not a dual citizen of the Philippines that's why you're not permitted by Philippine law to take the local exam

Just take your time. I had to take a lot of deep breaths since i felt that my heart was

racing while i was sitting to take the test...and i wanted to relax. Last night i couldn't

sleep thinking how i did it...asking myself if this is for real! I was totally convinced

i didn't make it but i guess, sometimes, we just have to have trust in ourselves.

We almost do better than what we think!

You can sit for NCLEX/RN (3) different ways : Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor Degree Nursing, Diploma from a Nursing college (2 year program also)

I am 100% on this, I have done much research on this matter.
