Hi all :) can someone please tell me how exactly to go about filing for DCF from Toronto? Also does it matter where we were married? Does it have to be in Canada or the US? We are not yet married, just engaged but we cant set a date or make plans yet since we don’t want to mess anything up with our papers for him! One more thing, I am American but have canadian citizenship also from my father... when i file for the DCF do i need to have a US passport?

DCF is only available to married couples living together in the consular district. NOT for fiancee visas. In that case, you apply for a K-1 fiancee visa.

:guides: they are really helpful.

i know that i guess i wasnt clear enough, we just havent gotten married yet because i want to know if it will matter where we are married when we do file for dcf.... make sense? i thought k-1 was easiest thats why we held off on our marriage, but now someone told me about DCF, and that is perfect for us! We will not file until we are married, which will be soon :)

thanks for your reply though!!!
