My friend got married to a USC. And filed for I-130 got her petition approve...so now she have to file another petition for Adjustment of Status. My question is does anybody knows what she have to do with the I-693 medical examination.....Can she just go to a family doctor and have it done there??? Or can she send the whole package and wait for them to give her more info on how to get it done???? Thanks in advance..... ;)

Why on earth did they only file for for I-130??? they should have filed for AOS at the same time.... oh well...

The medical has to be done by a Civil Surgeon and any vaccinations needed will need to be done.... for the medical phone around and get the best price as it can varry by as much as $300.... any vaccination needed try the local health clinic... I had mine done there and it only cost $15 just had to take the info back to the Civil Surgeon to complete the paperwork...

Good Luck

I'd suggest that your friend really needs to do some more research to find out how to successfully Adjust her Status.

This link is a good start: http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/legpermres.htm

The instructions about the medical are all linked in there, and no, she can't just go to her family doctor.

It is her responsibility to learn how to do this right, or to hire someone to do it for her. It is not the immigration agency's job to send papers back and forth until she gets it right.

You might encourage her to read the Guides at visajourney.com as well.

I think so, too...But she might have a problem on I-20 or F-1 visa expire and need to file quickly...I guess... Otherwise it wastes your time...

you already got the ansewer about civil sergent and advice reading USCIS website and VJ.

The medical should be sent with I-485.

she also need to submit a copy of I-20 with I-485 and it is different from K-1 or K-3 visa .

Good luck

I am also adjusting from F-1 visa.

I had my medical exam by a USCIS approved civil surgeon. By the way, my University required me to have several vaccinations previously. I brought the receipts to USCIS approved surgeon, and I did not have to take the shots for the second time :D

Then I sent the whole AOS package consisting of I-130, I-485, I-864 and all the supporting documents, including the medical exam results to Chicago. You may also file I-765 at the same time (if you have no EAD) and for Advanced Parole.

Make a research on how to Adjust Status. There is a lot of useful information on this site.
