I called NVC today to see if they have yet received my case that was approved on January 9th and the lady responded allow us 4 to 6 weeks? Does it really take this long or she was just Bsing?

It means that, yes, they probably have your case, but have not yet forwarded it to the Embassy. Four to six weeks, right now, seems to be the average timeline for AP, also known as Administrative Processing. Which you do not want to be in and hopefully are not.

Give them a couple more days and ask again. In the meanwhile, you might get an email saying that they have received your case, as well as one saying that they've forwarded it to the USEM. Both can be - misinformation.

Unfortunately, this NVC part seems to be the most unreliable and unknown part of the whole procedure.

Does that mean even though you are in AP they still tell you that your case is not in their system?

Cause we have been approved on Dec 5th and we know CSC has sent out our file but NVC keeps telling us that they haven't received our file.

I really don't know. They have to have your file in the system in order to be able to put it under AP. We had no problems finding out are new case number and the like.

At the same time, NVC employees/operators usually say random things on the phone and, for the most part, what one says, no one will ever confirm. Talking to many of them pretty much means you'll hear just as many stories, if not more.

My file arrived at NVC on Dec 9th, now its 5 weeks, and i am still stuck there. Yesterday I was told that 5 weeks seems to be average and I should be done by Tuesday 20th, but its just a guess, could go on for weeks, I hope not!!! I was also told that SOME countries take longer to process. I noticed Phillipines as well as others were there 7-8 weeks at times??? Good luck, we are all stuck inthe black hole of the NVC and our lives plans are dictated by the slowness of the system for the past 5-6 monthd!!!!!

If your case is 'stuck' in AP at NVC then they should at least have a record of it.

If uscis claims it was sent and nvc states it's not there..then most likely it's stuck somewhere waiting for processing and you should stay on top of it. It's not uncommon for CSC to 'misplace' these. Do a search here on VJ for this and you're sure to find company.

NVC sends out snail mail letters, not email. They will send email if you inquire via email BUT it's most likely a standard response.

We received two letters with two different dates stating it was sent out but the reality was we were stuck in AP for 3 weeks at NVC. This seems to be happeing much more frequently lately.

Moving this from K1 to NVC
