HI...hope anyone could give me some info especially my fellow filipinas... Im gonna be in Alabama next month (if i pass the interview for K1 application) and i wonder if the BON in AL requires foreign nurses' transcript be authenticated in the Philippines first. That's actually something new from Philippines..that the Commision on Higher Education (CHED) requires all nursing gradates to have their transcript authenticated (that is if they intend to work abroad which includes all other countries). But in my case, since i will be having a visa (w/c is a fiance visa not working visa anyway), i am not quite sure if the BON in AL would require the transcripts to be authenticated first? I'm guessing that the "authentication" thign only applies to those who will be working as nurses outside the Phippines with WORKING VISA ONLY. anyone knows?? Hope you could spare sometime.. THANK YOU!

yeah well...whatever it is that confuses me, i know i can always make a call and get valid information straight from the horse's mouth hehe... just want to confirm from anybody who have been through the process. And I'm like an hour away by plane from the place where i need to be getting my school credentials done so if i can get through by just having what i have..would be great.

authenticated by CHED is that what you mean? to get a S.O. number? if that is what ur asking then yes i think its better that a diploma or transcript needs some stamp or something from CHED because most states ask for governement approved nursing schools...

I seriously, doubt that you do, sounds to me like the Filipino authorities are making it more difficult for their precious nurses to leave for the USA and can can exercise more control over those wanting a work visa! I was a foreign nurse that came over on a spousal visa and then used the CGFNS and then sat the NCLEX and then licensed in my State and started work but I was from the UK, however, my nursing school had shut down and had only very limited transcripts available and I still got through, but I had to go round the houses as it were. Its not a bad idea though as someone else suggested to contact the Alabama board of nursing to see what they suggest just to be on the safe side. Just to warn you as well, the process from start to finish of getting licensed, whilst not as long as if were trying to get a work visa , is quite lengthy and thats if you pass the NCLEX first time.
