Hi Dilbert,

It looks like it's $131. I found this on the Delhi Embassy website:

FEES $131 or Rs. 6,812/- for each applicant. Visa fees are not refundable; they must be paid through a rupee bank draft drawn on a nationalized or foreign bank. The bank drafts must be issued in the name of “The American Embassy, New Delhi”, and should be payable in Delhi. Traveler's check or cash in US $ is acceptable. As the rate of exchange can change, we recommend that applicants check the current consular rate of exchange at our website www.newdelhi.usembassy.gov or contact the Embassy ahead of their interview to obtain the current consular rate of exchange. At present, applicant has to pay the K1 Visa Fee $ 131 or Rs. 6,812/- (only single draft required) for each applicant. Using the exchange rate of $1.00 = Rs. 52/-. Exchange rate subject to change without notice.

Here's the link to find the website I am referring to:

Dilbert - the K1 app fees are $131 (the $400 is for some other immigrant visa - don't worry about that). Make sure you use the Rs. 52 rate (my fiancee did one at 50 based on pkt 4 but I found out (thanks to Kyle) that it was now 52, so she canceled the old draft and made a new one for Rs. 6812.

As for the forms, you need all the one's you listed. We had to submit all forms at the VFS Kolkata office. We used the forms available online. Make sure you print on both sides of the page (they are picky about this). Paid only the VFS fees (Rs. 394 I believe) when I submitted the docs @ the VFS office.

Keep in my mind (before Karri jumps in and reminds me of that :bonk: ) my process was for Mumbai via Kolkata. Things may be diff for Delhi as it relates to the VFS office or any other procedure. So, call and confirm.

About my interview exp. I posted my approval note in a new thread here. I am waiting for my fiancee to fly back to Kolkata so I can post in detail after I talk to her. They asked a lot of questions about me and my job (where I work, how long etc), why we are getting married in the US, has she met my parents... Again, I will post more in detail in a day or two. But it was not bad. It was all the regular questions we have seen everyone else being asked. Also, they did not ask to see any info. I had my fiancee prepare everything in the accordion style folder, but she didn't need to dip into that. We did send in the phone logs/emails via the VFS office (they asked us to include those). So, not sure if they looked at everything, but the CO was only flipping through the pics I had sent in with my I-129F petition.

Sam - welcome and don't believe a word of what Karri tells you about me roughing you up and talking sense into you. ;) ..I am taking the Fifth on that. Jokes apart, good luck to you and Karri.

Moksha/Karri/Dilbert/gagan/harsh/others.... Good luck to all of you. Y'all (as southern as I can get even though I am based in NC) will be fine. I just know it.

Cheers,

Moksha - Thanks. Have you or anyone else seen this number $131 mention in the P4? It appears from what my fiancee tells me that only $400 is mentioned in the P4. I know you guys are right as so many of you are saying the same thing...But, why this discrepancy?

Thanks.

snickers. Classicrock loves to pick on me lol. Actually it's "all y'all." Someone from Kentucky corrected me once ;)

Sam, I'll have to explain to you sometime what taking the fifth means when we go over US history etc lol.

Dilbert - Considering that they send outdated forms for people to fill out that should be a red flag right there not to believe every written word you are given in a packet. Because the vast majority of interviews are immigrants and not people who have "fiances aka honey bunnies" they don't separate out the information in a more personal sense for each group. Does that make sense? The visa fee is posted on the packet4 section of the New Delhi website if you still doubt, give them a call or email them to get more info. Hope that helps some. Perhaps if you rub Sam's shoulders the right way he might post a listing of what we are submitting to VFS vs. what to bring with us to the interview to all to see as an example.

Btw someone asked where my fiancee was. She is in Delhi and thats the consulate we are going through. She scheduled her medical for Friday 3/6 at the Zor bagh place.

I remember reading somewhere that you can get a form filled during medical which can help you not have to get the same stuff done during AoS. Anyone know which form it was? I think this is mostly so you don't have to spend the money again to get the same shots and stuff.

Wow just read through a bunch of AoS threads related to submitting Form 693 about medical. What a mess. Anyways, getting copies of DS-3025 (I guess this is not that hard) and if possible the medical report seem to be the best idea at this point.

Lots of outrage about transcribing DS-3025 to 693 during AoS and TB skin test related issues during AoS.

Don't forget you still have to phsyically call one of the authroized locations to book your medical. The letter they sent was just a suggested medical appt. You do get a copy of your medical, some things not all when you go. Sam got an immunization record I believe.

I have a similar question.

Is this the website to fill DS 156 online?

# DS-156: Nonimmigrant Visa Application

http://evisaforms.state.gov/

Here's the link on the state.gov website that should have all the updated forms...

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/forms/forms_1342.html

DS -156 link is correct. You can start typing and at the end save/print unlike some other forms (believe it is DS 230 which you can only type and print but not save). Every time you start filling out the form it generates a new barcode. Don't worry about that. After you are done and you realize there is a typo, you will need to redo the process (which will generate a new bar code again - don't let that discourage you from correcting your typos). Make sure you print the completed form on both sides. The VFS office in Kolkata was very picky about that. I hear the Mumbai VFS office is the same way. Make sure you have paper that is heavier stock for legible print esp where you print on both sides.

Mesodenia - each VFS office can be different. My fiancee is from Kolkata and the VFS office there wanted all the documents listed on the Pkt 4 list (in the order listed). They also took relationship proofs (emails and phone call logs). I hear Mumbai VFS office only wants the forms.

For VFS, if you do not have all the documents, don't worry. You can take the rest to your interview. My medicals, for instance, were not done in time and my fiancee took them to the interview. Same for PCC, you can take it to the interview if you don't have that when you go to submit your docs.

Also, in my case, they wanted I-134 as well along with all the supporting documents (tax transcripts, employment letter, pay stubs, acct verification letter from the bank, W2). They took the B/C, PCC originals.

Hope this helps.

Good luck guys.
