Packet 3/4 question

I have not rcvd packet 4 , it panicing me . Is it time to push that panic button . I think I need to call them ans ask the date of dispatch .

Don't worry just yet, I think they mailed them all out the same day. If you don't get it by Monday or Tuesday call them and have them email it to you.

This is from my fiancee - Please take a look at it and use it as a ref for the stuff you are getting from the embassy...[/color] I personally am confused by the fees. Is it $400 as one draft or is two separate drafts of $355 and $45? Please advise.

Received the packet 4 by regular mail on 26th Feb. It was posted from the embassy on 23rd.

The packet 4 has a cover letter, Instruction sheet, Blank forms - DS 230 Part I & DS 230 Part II

The cover letter talks about the final stage of visa processing for Immigrant Visa Application.

They have clearly stated the preference category as K1-IND, With my case no. & name along with the Visa appointment date & time.

On the right hand side of the page they have specified the date & time for Medicals but not specified with the Doc Name.

The Information sheet of packet 4 has the following set of instructions

List of following documents to be submitted to the nearest VFS office no earlier than 15 days & no less than 10 days of the interview date along with a fee of Rs 365/-

Along with the list of documents an Immigrant Visa fee of $400/- needs to be paid in the form of a bank draft payable at Delhi in the name of " The American Embassy, New Delhi". It also states only the fees which has not been collected by NVC will be paid at our Office. They have an option where an individual has to pay a total of $400/ or just pay $45 as the surcharge.

There is a sheet of instructions on the photos

There is a list of doctors provided along with their addresses

Also there is a set of instructions for the domicile for Immigrant Visa Sponsers

This is broadly what the packet 4 has. Just wanted to be sure on whether we have got similar set of documents as others.

Since you are going for a non immigrant visa, the immigrant visa fees listed in packet 4 do not apply in your case. You have to pay the courier fee at VFS I don't know the new rate for that and the bank draft receipt at interview with the new exchange rate I posted above. $131 or 6,812 rs

Btw, do you actually need DS-230 Part 2 for the interview. From what I can tell from Packet 4 info on the website for K-1 I haven't seen a need for it but I am not sure. Can anyone verify if you actually need DS-230 Part 2 for the interview or not.

We are bringing extra copies just in case. You will have to sign part II in front of someone at the interview.

We did not use DS-230 Part 2. I think that is used for other types of visas.

You do have to sign DS-156K in front of them.

So I had a question. Do most people turn in originals of pictures (well the nice printed ones from digital pictures) to VFS and then carry another copy to the interview. What about all the forms? Do you turn in the originals to VFS or do you turn in copies and then carry the originals to the interview yourself?

Btw, as an update my fiancee did receive her Packet 4 over the weekend and it had the same medical appointment date of 3/9. Maybe it is a suggestion to try to schedule the medical by then. Anyways, my fiancee is going to call for the medical on Monday. She lives in Delhi so that probably helps.

And yeah it does seem like DS-230 Part 2 is NOT needed.

I think someone needs to clarify. What's the fess.

My fiancee tells me (she will post her version as well) that it is $400 and that's what has been written in her P4. It is also mentioned in her P4 that her K1 is an immigrant visa. Where did the $131 come from? What did the recent interview folks take a draft for? I do remember seeing $131 in the website...why is there a discrepancy?

2) Can someone post a link to the recent experiences in New Delhi. Apparently, Feb had some 7-8 K1 cases. What were their experiences

3) Also, is there a link to the master list of all the questions asked..I remember seeing it someone place in the forum - some 100 odd questions. Can someone post the link to that.

Forms - WHat forms do we need?

1) DS 230 Part 2

2) DS 156

3) ds 156 K

Will they not give these forms? Are they not included along w/ P4? Do we need to print it out. Which is the form that actually needs us to go and fill something and print out along w/ the bar code? DS 156 or 156K?

Now congratulations to all who got their interview date. And those who haven't got their interview date yet then call embassy sharp at 10 am. You will go through in first try. Since we all know they like to sit at their table for atleast 30 mins before they can go out and have fun lol. Anyways jokes apart.

So today I got my medical done. It was easy. Some things to remember when you go for medical. Take photocopy of your passport, appointment letter and 2 pics ( 50 x 50 ).

Now next most important thing since we indians don't like to go to hospitals or clinics for regular checkups so please ask your parents whether you ever had MEASLES or MUMPS ( MATA in hindi ). Some ppl have that as a kind but as they forget that they forget abt that.

Okay ok lets make this short. If your report is normal then most probably u'll get it the same day in the evening. The medical process takes 2 - 3 hours and try to go their at 9 a.m. If you go there at 9 am then they will free you by 12 pm or earlier than that. But still u'll get ur report in the evening.

So in my report I got 1 envelope ( which is for me ) and 2 other big envelopes ( which I need to submit at embassy don't know if I can submit that at VFS yet ).

I'm not going to open those other 2 big envelopes since they are sealed.

Just to add to Sam's post, he got 3 immunization shots done today. They are not required for K-1 but will be required for AOS when you come to the U.S. It's cheaper to get them done in India so if you have the time and money do it sooner than later. Also be advised that some shots are a series so you have to go back a month later to get next dose.

Just be ready with your case number and the name of the applicant ( benificiary ) before you call this number.
