Can you please measure the actual size of photograph area in passport?

I am aware that we need to submit 2 x 2 in photo for passport – but the scanned image in passport is trimmed on sides. I want to make sure that my head is not too big – or too small. I am aware of all gudelines and just want to be sure how photo it is going to look. Thank you.

Don't worry about how it's going to look. Just go somewhere (like Costco) and get your passport photos done. The rest is up to the passport office.

There are guidelines you have to follow, and places that do passport photos know those guidelines.

They only cost around $5.00 and took about 3 minutes at Costco.

they used to make some really nice photos for passport and visa now they have the guide lines saying that u have to be like dead on can not be taller than u r really a lot of the pics now are very unbecoming, i hate my pic in my new passport

oh and one lady that went same day as me was told to go home and take some of her make up off because they wanted a more natural pic for the passport

Just got my passport today ( 9 days) length is 1.6 inches, height is just under 2" I can see they have trimmed it, so measurements are going to vary. Ensure u submit what THEY ASK for.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

I think I may have expressed it wrong... it's 1 inch and 12 of the little bits to the next inch, of which there are 32- what are they called anyways? So it would be length: 1 1/3 inch; height: 1 2/3 inch. Strange if yours is really so much different. I could see it with the twins passports, which were done at the US Embassy in Ireland, but my husband had his done several years ago in Arkansas...

Thank you guys! This measurement is from new e-passport, correct? And you have measured grey box (behind photo), correct? Funny, the grey box should be the same size.

If you follow the rule for new passport photo, it will be fine.

They consider the room for trimming.

If I remember correctly, it specifically says that your face should be no larger than this size, and no samller than that...

The distance from you chin to your head top should be within specific size.

Something like this.

Most important thing for your photo is that you should not have any emotion such as smile, or something like that.

What exactly are your trying to do with your photgraphs? Don't mess around with the pics so they can be perfect. It's a passport! Unless your really worried about what the Immigration officers at different ports are making fun of you, then keep clicking. Plus they scan it and determine how much of the pic to keep.
