I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he would do it if it was someone in his family.

I don't know - when I say something, I mean it.

Not that I would want to skin a person for something he did to someone else... I don't care

enough to get personally involved. That's why we have judges.

PD, you are exactly right, the weakest and most attractive are the main targets, or I should say first targets.

The much touted idea that "child molesters" are marked-men, is way over rated as well.

It has become harder and harder to protect prisoners because the element of humanity in prisons or I should say, those who live in them, are getting worse every day.

Someone noted early on about they thought humans had evolved past using such brutal and inhumane ways to punish others.

I reject that whole concept that "humans are evolving into more perfect or better creatures."

I firmly believe man, is every bit as evil or good as he was ten thousand years ago.

I also believe that the pendulum has now swung to far, we are way to sympathetic to the most vile among us.

I would like to know where this whole notion came from that doing anything physically to a person is somehow out of bounds. Now I would never seriously skin someone alive, or burn them with gas, and I doubt anyone else was literal in those comments but;

I am all for capital punishment, and work programs to reimburse the state for their incarceration.

Prison should be a strict, harsh experience. The level of work and progress in education/skills should dictate the level of comfort one receives.

We have the most secure facilities and best trained personnel yet everyone knows prisons have been reduced to a collection of gangs that is spiraling.

Unfortunately there is no hope for our system because there are far too many among us who feel ....that people who crush the body of a child until it is dead,... is entitled to cable TV.

I think that's astoundingly and astonishingly stupid. Allowing inmates to meet out punishment on each other, knowingly and willingly? I guess prisons are places where we just dump people and let them get on with it only requiring prison guards to patrol the perimeter and dump some basic supplies through a hatch from time to time.

Then what punishment is fitting for the couple in this thread?

People have said "oh no" to the death penalty because "that's barbaric and we are more evolved than that".

Now it's "oh no" to prison 'coz the inmates will attack them.

What's the answer?

I don't think anyone is disputing that they deserve to be punished....

Oh I know.

No one said "oh no" to prison sentences, prision would very likely be entirely appropriate. What is not appropriate is looking to prison inmates to further inflict sentencing upon the convicted. Such an idea is inane and insane.

That is not to say that inmates do indeed attempt to, and sometimes succeed in meeting out violent attacks upon those they deem inferior to themselves, but it is not something that should be condoned or blindly accepted. That is not justice.
