Hi all,

Well, if the whole visa process in Morocco isn't enough to put you on tranquilizers...since I have been back in the states from living over there I have been working for the world's biggest jerk as an executive assistant and can't take much more. (After I started working, I was told he had been thru 7 assistants in two years before me...he is a real a**hole to work for!) I have been hanging in there, mainly for Zizi, because of the I-134 thing and to show there is financial stability. Well, I got my real estate license again yesterday, and seriously want to take the plunge and get out of there. As I mentioned in an earlier thread, he was placed on 221g after his interview 5/31/06 and told to get a new passport.

Question: At this point, will me going from a wage job to a commission job (and it could be lean for awhile) affect anything? Is it possible that during AP, they verify my employment right now?

Susan

if you have a job lined up.. go for a new one. you are already on 221g. those take forever to clear up.

shoot. I would! besides you would be making more money. :D

A 221g won't necessarily take forever to clear up... But in any case I don't think switching jobs right now should affect anything. Your I-134 was accurate at the time of interview.

I have been living the last year of my life for this stupid visa process because I want to marry Mohammed and I want him with me. I took a job I hated because it was the first one that came along and I needed to fill that "criteria". I worked my butt off for 6 months hating every minute of it. The stress from this process and maintaining that job was eating away at me until I was so miserable I couldn't stand myself. I needed to quit and I had every good reason to do so, but was too afraid of "disrupting the criteria". Guess what happened? My health went kablooey one day, I went home early from work and they fired me. Now I'm jobless (although that may be changing early next week, enshaa Allah) on top of the rest of it. In compromising my own personally happiness and well-being I ended up cutting off my nose to spite my face.

I know this isn't addressing the "criteria" directly, but I do think that we all still deserve to live our lives as we would if we weren't going through this process. It's too dehumanizing as it is. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

have you considered doing the real estate part time while you work your current job? it may be a big step but time will fly by real fast, and you can find out if real estate is going to work well for you without dumping the old job, so that you have something to fall back on.
