Philippines NBI... need help please

Hi, I'm trying to find out if there's a guide or if anyone can help me make sure my wife's NBI is done properly according to the Manila Embassy's standards... She already got an NBI, however they did not give her a letter of explanation as to why she has "no criminal record" as the embassy states they require. Also, I'm not entirely sure they got all of the names she has had on documents from the past. Some one screwed up her birth certificate and put a middle initial in her name that doesn't belong. Her NBI does not list that initial as one of the names they checked...

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Andy

Timeline

NBI CLEARANCE: Applicants aged 16 years and older must have a valid Record Clearance for Travel Abroad Purposes from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). Clearances should be in the applicant’s current name, birth certificate name, maiden name, married name, and any aliases or nicknames ever used, including different spellings of all names ever used. An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, "No pending criminal case” or “With derogatory record.” NBI is located along Taft Avenue in Manila. You may contact NBI at (632) 523-82-31 to 38. For immigration purposes, an NBI clearance is considered valid only for one year from the date it is issued.

As noted the embassy website says "An official letter of explanation from the NBI is required for any notation of “No criminal record”, "No pending criminal case” or “With derogatory record.”

I think you may want to check with the embassy to see if the letter is required, ours always come back saying "No derogatory record."

A letter will not normally come with an NBI, it s something you need to request in addition to the NBI.

Btw I seem to recall something about a change in the letter requirement for the notation "no criminal record" a few years ago but I'm not sure so checking with the embassy would be your best bet.
