Hi all! I was just filling out the I-864 again for our upcoming greencard interview and I began to worry about something. It says that income for the past 3 years will be taken into consideration. Well, I just graduated in December and so for all intents and purposes, I didn't have income for the past 3 tax years. I've been employed full-time since late December though and know that my current income more than meets the requirements. I've already made about $13K this year and our requirement in is about $16K. Do you think we would still qualify taking that into consideration? Thanks.

You would definitley think your income is sufficient. I know mine was. And I got an RFE. You might not, but it is definitley possible. If I were you, I would include a cover letter explaining how you were in school and just graduated and now hold a very steady job etc. Good luck! (F)

Lots of information and advice on this topic can be found in these two threads:

In both situations an RFE was issued requesting proof that the USC makes 125% of the poverty guideline, and in both cases the USC's income now clearly exceeds 125% of the poverty guideline but did not during prior tax years.

Do you think this pretty much means I'll have to get a co-sponsor? Or do you think if I write a cover letter and bring as much evidence as possible, I'll manage to get thru it without receiving an RFE?

Well...My husband was waiting for a year to file my AOS because he knew that his w-2 2004 did not show over 125% of porverty line (he got current job end of 2004). And my visa was OK to wait...

But your visa, you can't wait...

Someone said in another thread a letter form company showed expected whole year income and verification of employment and pay check stubs may help (All notarized).

But, if I were you, I may file with co-sponser.. because it is a definetely way and RFE is really sucks (waiting for a mailman for three days..being anxicious what USCIS want...May be AOS process late...)

Good luck!!
