Good luck! The Pittsburgh office was very friendly when my wife and I dealt with them during the AOS interview, quick and easy!

They have been so nice to me already...

But it never hurts to have pointers...

Anything specific to your interview?? care to share your experience???

I would really appreciate it!!!

PS: Thanks everyone for your kind words and good wishes...:)

Hmmm...been close to a year now since we did it, but I can remember most of it. The letter said to arrive no earlier than 30 minutes prior, but the guy in front told us to come back when it was 15 minutes til our time. We stood outside the doors, nervously, for a while then went back in when it was time. After they ran us through the metal detector and checked my wife's interview letter they directed us to that elevator straight back and which floor to go to, the room you sit in isn't very big and has some of the most uncomfortable (and ugly) chairs I've ever seen, but there are a bunch of big windows and you get a nice view of the Southside and the Mon river so you can be distracted from sitting in them for a while.

When we went it looked like they had 3 officers working AOS cases that day, two men and a woman, we got the woman who was in a casual business suit and was very cheerful (I wore some dress slacks and a sweater, my wife was wearing a dress, nothing too dressy but not sluming it). We got called about 20 minutes after our time that we had scheduled and followed her back to her office, its a little hallway with I think 3 rooms on each side of it, her office was the last one down on the left. She swore us in then told us to have a seat. It was almost like she had already reviewed us before we ever got there because she didnt really ask much of anything, and she mostly asked me all of the questions and not my wife who was the one

there for the AOS.

We had spent the day before the interview rushing to get an updated afadavit of support notorized, turns out she didn't even want it and never asked for it, the one I had filled out before was fine. I got a notorized copy of my tax return made which showed that I made way less than the 125% required, and explained to her why I only had one year (unemployed) which seemed sufficient enough for her. I was working a new job where I made over the 125%, so I brought a bunch of pay stubs but she didn't seem overly interested in them and only looked at my most recent one I had. Some of the other things I gave her:

Letter from employer stating what my job was, how long I had been there, how much I make, and that the job was full time with guaranteed over time, and that I was going to be there for a while.

Letter from employer stating that my wife was listed as my beneficiary on my Life Insurance policy.

Copies of my wifes health/dental/vision insurance cards.

Pictures from the wedding.

We had a co-sponsor for the initial K1 interview, but we were able to drop it for the AOS and she never asked about it. Oddly enough she never asked for any bills or mail with our names jointly on them, not even a bank statement to show we were co-mingling funds which I found a little odd, but hey...just made it easier on us.

After all of that she ran through the usual questions, are you a terrorist? ever been a prostitute? etc etc. The only snag we had was when she questioned why my wife was denied entry at Pearson International in Toronto, but we just told her the truth (officer felt she didnt have strong ties to return to Canada) and that was the end of that. She told us that every thing was in order and explained about lifting conditions in 2 years, and she wasn't going to stamp the I-551 in the passport because my wife should recieve the green card within two weeks. Whole thing took maybe 10 minutes tops.

And here I was thinking that after the HUGE effort the INS had made to finally issue my EAD and AP, they were simply going to make me WAAAAAAIT for the AOS interview. Well NO!!!

While on a business trip to Kansas City, the letter arrived. Rob called me and said, AOS interview for July 27th at 9:30 am. And you have to take all that immigration stuff that you have in that box... (kinda cute... cause he's been pestering me about keeping EVERY single paper that could mean evidence of our marriage)...

Anyhoo... of course I was thrilled... and wanted to share with you all...:)

Ana

Congrats and best wishes with your interview

Thanks SilentJester...

We had a RFE for the Affidavit of Support, however, and just cause I know they might ask for it. I'll get a new one and notarize it, close to the interview date. We have wedding pics, and we have a whole bunch of other pics of us (other than wedding), but Iwas wondering if you made copies for them or if you just showed yours. We have a new lease agreement under both our names, and now that you mention it. I'll get a letter from my employer stating that he's the beneficiary of my 401K and life insurance.

We have one credit card under both our names, one savings and one checking account together, however, for my salary the account is just under my name. For the new place we'll get utility bills under both our names.

I hope it's enough proof. I have kept everything that seemed to be proof that we live together, and even though I try not to fret too much over it, it cant be help to get all nervous...

Thanks for sharing your experience with me, and to all of you, thanks for your good wishes...
