:help: Our (I-129F+ documents ) have just arrived in Bangkok,Thailand. The I-130 is being processed in the NVC they tell me to pay nothing until Noy, gets in the U.S.A. Then file form I-485. I think the best thing for us is to file the IR-1/CR-1. If I do as the lady in the NVC suggests, I must pay the AOS fees and still maybe not get what we want. How do we file for the IR-1/CR-1 Thank you to whom ever can help. Tommy& Noy.

If you want to the do IR1/CR1 you should go along more specifically with the I-130. I applied for both, to see whichever one is quicker, but I was told to ignore the I-129F information that comes through. Sometimes if you get an I-129F interview first you can change it and ask for that interview to be your CR1. Definitely read the guides to find out more information! Good luck.

If you go IR-1/CR-1, it will be CR-1 for you since you have been married less than 2 years. The CR-1 will take about 30-60 days longer, but she will be able to work, drive etc once she gets here, and the only thing you will have to file is lifting of conditions. It is also cheaper in the long run, because there is no $1010 Adjustment of status charge.

Personally, I went with the IR-1 (I've been married over 2 years) instead of the K-3. It takes longer, but in the end it is worth it not to have to deal with USCIS again. My advice would be to go with the CR-1. Look here for info on how to cruise through the NVC process. I think the record is 17 days now.

Good luck!

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!
