Hello everyone! Background checks for me too, filed July 31st and got NOA1 August 1st. I think I'm being checked because I got turned away at immigration checkpoint in Dublin. It's a nightmare, I've done nothing wrong, me and my fiance were being so careful and never broke any laws. I hate this, does anyone know roughly how long security checks take?

Hi everyone. My senator received a response that my petition is also pending in the background check unit. My NOA receipt date is 7/18/08. It's making me sick to think about. We are expecting a baby in 7 weeks and obviously my fiance isn't going to make it here for the birth of the baby. I don't know why it's taking so long.

There seems to be quite a few people in security checks. I would wager just about everyone in the 6+ month waiting club is.

What is a security check and how do you get into it? How do they notify you that you are in it? Hmmm...

It doesn´t show in your status on the uscis webpage. I think everybody goes through security checks. Some people just get stuck in them. We found out after an inquiry from our congressman office. Here is what our congressman wrote about them:

"The pending background check does not mean anything is wrong. Any number of variables could be involved: a backlog of cases waiting in queue for their processing turn, a delay in getting background information from an agency or agencies, names similar to your fiancee's that must be checked against hers. Its a waiting game at this point. If you haven't heard anything in 90 days, please feel free to contact me and I will file another inquiry for you."

CSC seems to be the center with the most background check backlog...as I am inferring from this thread as well as the 6months+ waiting club...majority of pple stuck in background checks according to USCIS have filed with CSC.

I wish everyone stuck in these checks or whatever other excuse USCIS is giving you, that you all get your NOA2s very soon! This week, CSC was very stingy with approvals, only 5, hopefully next week we will get the long-awaited burst of approvals!
