Hello everyone! How are you?

I have been working for my first job in the US for more than a month now.

It is not the job that I like, but I had to accept it to get a better job.

What is your first job in the US?

How long did you work there until you changed your job?

Do you have your own insurance? I am trying to get my insurance through my work, but

it depends on how many hours they will give me.

Please share your experience.

Claudeth worked in the kitchen at the Hyatt in Irvine doing the employee dining room. She didn't like it too much and ended up only lasting there for about 3 months. She then tried Sears and lasted there for another 3 months. She has now been unemployed for 3 years. She wants to go to some sort of vocational school but has no idea what she wants to do. I wonder if there is any need for a professional dilly dallier :P

Hi Sherry,

I arrived in the US last year and I'm still working in my first job right now. I started last October and will probably stay in this position until July/August when we move. I work at a hospital (health information department), full time 40hrs and my benefits (including medical insurance, etc) are quite good.

In regards to insurance can you get added to your husband's insurance as a dependent? My husband isn't working (he's in grad school) and he's insured as my dependent this way

Hi sherry hopefully you'll soon find the job that you like. I got here march 2008, i passed my AOS last july 2008 had my green card approved last december 10, 2008.I have less than a year of experience as Rn in the philippines and so i know that i will have a hard time looking for a job here in the US so i consider myself as an entry-level nurse. Thankfully i was accepted last november 18, 2008 at a governemnt hospital and will start on the 16. SO My first job as a RN will be at LAC+USC area of MICU. This is a great opportunity for me as it is a level 1 trauma hospital. But the catch is i have to travel since we are here at rancho santa margarita now. :-( But its the best job offer for me now. It will be great for my resume since im looking forward for my masters sometime soon at USC too. Good luck to all of us:-) And just keep on reaching for your goal. God bless :star:

Thank you so much everyone. I know it is really hard to get a decent job right now. Even though I have a BA and working experience, not a lot of employers are hiring.

I rarely get shifts at my work, but I have to be patient:)
