I married an Italian man and then we became separated. We are in the process of getting a divorce. I wanted to withdraw the I-130 petition but then just got word that it was denied before I could withdraw it. Does this mean the same thing as the case being closed? Do I need to formally withdraw the petition anyway. What is the difference between "denied" and "closed," does anyone know?

where was it denied at USCIS or at the US Embassy

The difference between denied and closed is the applicant can close the petition at any time but cant denied it and USCIS or Embassy can denied at any time but cant close it.
