My Wife spoke with M.D. Antani, and the US documents or Interview letter were not a problem. However after Jan 1st, the Local PCCs need to be signed by the Local Tax Collector, and then verified by the office in Gandhinagar. Now this is what is holding up the passport office clearance for me, anyone else have to go through this??

I'm really loving this circus in Ahmedabad...why must they make things so difficult. I should know in a few hours if the tax collectors office will be cooperative or not.

hi,

my husband did not need to go to ghandinagar for stamp....based on my understanding if the city you are living is small than one needs to go to ghandinagar....my husband who is from baroda did not need one...

I have taken my Local PCC from District Police Office and verified by other class II govt. officer of small town.i got that in just 2-3 hrs it works fine and my passport office PCC is issued by Surat passport office without Interview letter and they have provided 2 original copy as well as stamp in passport. i have verified it by same class II govt officer.

In REF they just asked for my original Birth certificate. My case is completed at NVC on 11th FEB 2009. now, they are scheduling interview date..hoping for March 09.

good luck to all

Hey quedup,

My wife is facing the same problem. She was also asked to get signatures from the local tax collectors office and then from Gandhinagar and then take those documents to Ahemdabad passport office to get the PCC.

When she went to get the PCC from local police station Apostilled, the collector refused to sign because the DSP had already signed the PCC from the local area. So apparently, the local DSP and the Tax collector had meetings about this issue because they are not aware about this new rules and they said they would confirm the new process and do the needfull.

Hopefully things will work out well and they will be able to get the PCC from passport office soon. I will post my progress towards this matter on this Forum-Topic.

I am not in a rush to get my PCC because my wifey has to finish her final semester which does not end untill June 09, which gives me ample time to deal with the Government of Gujarat.

Hope this information is helpful to others.

Dear all,

I applied for Passpost PCC yesterday and I think that Ahmedabad passport office has changed the rule again from 3/3/09. They dont demand the stamp of Gandhinagar now because Gandhinagar guys are busy due to the elections declared in India that is what I concluded with their talks. So you can go to passport office just with your local PCC and try. They are asking for visa letter but you can give copy of checklist from NVC.

All the best.

Okay..I have been reading this thread and I would like to tell all of you that my friend is having the same problem. Ahm'bad Passport office is not giving his wife passport PCC. They are telling him that she needs an interview letter from US Embassy.

Now this is few weeks old. I just read "ILIKETOHELP" post below and I think rules must have changed. I suggest all of you to download Packet 4 checklist from Mumbai Embassy website and take it with you along with approval letter and try to get PCC from Ahm'bad passport office.

I will suggest this to my friend tomorrow and will keep you guys updated if I find anything. In mean time, I am sure we all would like to hear more from "iliketohelp' so please give us more detail about how were you able to submit your passport PCC application.

That's right. I have been waiting for PCC since 2 weeks. My wife had to go thorugh that process. The DSP signed and gave her pcc (on Feb 26) in a sealed envelop which had to be signed by local collector (March 2nd). He signed and gave her sealed envelop which was singed by the collector in Gandhinagar on same day (March 2nd) . Next day (march 3rd) she went to passport office showed her PCC, submitted fee and passport. They told her that thay will mail her passport and pcc within 3-4 days.

And I have read some where that NVC accepts copies of pcc. Is that true?

Cauz just called NVC to make sure and the lady said they need original pcc from local n passport office.

Hey guys, so here are a couple of updates. You can send your husband/wife a scan of all of the pages of the AOS bill or IV bill, have them print it out and take that to the Passport office. My wife was able to use the NOA2, and the AOS bill, and showed them the full I-130 file. They basically want to see your Mumbai consulate case number on documents with the USC's address listed.

As far as submitting the PCCs to NVC. I called a few times and have verified that they will accept scans of the PCCs. I had my wife sent me color scans of the PCCs and I printed them out on a color laser printer and used that as part of the DS-230 package. My package is currently under review, I will let you know once it is accepted. A couple of VJ members have included the scans, and their cases were completed without a problem.

If anyone in having trouble with the Ahmedabad passport office, please feel free to PM, and I can tell you what my wife and I had to do to get the passport PCC.
