Question about notarization

Hi, my wife and I have an upcoming appointment at the US Embassy in London to prove that our marriage is indeed bona fide.

We're bringing along proof of joint residence and common address, joint bank account documents, photos, and sworn affidavits from both ourselves and several family members and friends.

The need for official notarization has never been clear to me so we're going to get the affidavits notarized, just to be safe.

One of the people who will sign one of the affidavits is 17 years of age (my wife's sister). I've asked several local notaries in the UK about this and none seem to see a problem according to English law, but I'm curious if this will be acceptable to the USCIS?

One of the other people will be the girl's mother, if that makes any difference.

What do you think? Any other thoughts on how to prepare?
