When you file for lifting conditions, I know you must show proof of having a house together. My mortgage company says we might have to redo the mortgage and closing cost. Need to draw up new papers from the lawyer to show his name on the mortgage. Not sure if this is right or not. They did say to wait until he has good credit first, like for a year. But if I pass on first, he will get my house anyway. so why put his name on the mortgage.

Any input on this will be appreciated.

NO NO NO! I am not on our mortgage statement. I just sent them our monthly mortgage statement which shows my husband name on it only!!! Then I wrote a note on the statement saying that he owned his house before I met him........which is true!

The laws on this vary from state to state so it would be a good idea to check to see if you could use what is termed a quit claim deed to put his name on the mortgage. A title company or real estate person should be able to advise you. This is the method we used so I know it can be done. We did it with one simple form that was notorized & recorded.

Yes, it is a much better idea to include his name on the title/deed rather than refinancing the mortgage (unless you are refinancing for some other reason)

You can also show utilities at the resident with both names or some with one name and some with the other. Health Insurance, Life insurance as well...

Don't incur the costs of refinancing just for the interview.

Best of luck!
