My mom and her friend are visiting. I am taking them to the beach tomorrow, but not sure which one to take them to. A few particulars - Punalu'u is about one hour from the house while Hapuna is two hours from the house.

Help me choose, because they are no help.

Punalu'u (pronounced: 'poo-nah-loo-oo') Bay is known for its beautiful black sand beach located on the Big Island of Hawaii. Punalu'u got its name from the fresh water springs in the bay where Hawaiians dove with gourds to the ocean floor to tap the springs. Rare and endangered green sea turtles frequent the beach and may even swim side by side with you as you play in the clear waters.

The sea turtles attract visitors each day from around the island, and around the world!

Beachcomb the sparkling black sands for rare olivine crystals and shells, or simply enjoy the warm tropical sunshine while working on your tan.

There are ancient Hawai'ian Heiau (Stone Temples) at each end of the Bay, and numerous hiking trails and opportunities for discovery. Secluded and quiet, this is the perfect getaway spot for a honeymoon or a family vacation - including fantastic snorkeling and scuba diving in the crystal clear waters of the Bay. Whether your passion is the ocean, the mountains or the green forests, all are within easy reach of Punalu'u. Join us on your next vacation, and discover a magical side of Hawai'i that is seldom experienced by visitors!

Hapuna Beach State Park, part of a 61-acre park, forms a ½-mile crescent of glistening sand guarded by rocky points at either end. The surf can be hazardous in winter, but in summer the gradual slope of the beach can stretch as wide as 200 ft into a perfectly blue ocean -- ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and body surfing. State cabins are available, and there is a convenient snack bar. Lifeguards are not always on duty, so take care.

awe fock that! I've just suffered through 27 years of hellish Canadian winters. 10 of which were spent North of 60. So blah. If anyone's pasty white skin deserves beach and sun, its this Cat. :hehe:

Anywho, if it were up to me, I'd stay in the house with the air conditioner on. Alas, I have guests and must entertain.

black....the description shows alot more to offer as far as historical interests...and black sand is made from volcanic rock which makes it way cooler than sand we've all already seen. black is the new white.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
